My husband seems to think most hikers are just out smoking weed out there. However, with this guy, the only thing in the toxicology report was basically Benadryl and Tylenol.

Trail angels are generally people who live close to the trail or churches who provide snacks and things to through hikers. Sometimes they’re on the trail passing them out and sometimes they just leave goodie bags.

You know, I haven't seen him in years but he looks like a dead-ringer age progression of a kid I used to see around when I was a kid:

He has a "faint" scar from his sternum down to his belly button. Possibly from a hernia?

He may have taken some out there, but dude died of starvation at 83 pounds—I’d imagine he’d have traded some pot for food at some point. How far off the beaten path was he when found? Was this an “Into the Wild” kinda thing where he got lost, and didn’t have the strength to hike toward where people would find him? Was this a long suicide?

I hope someone helps you with this. I have no info to provide. Just posting to help keep the thread going. If he truly was from BR or the surrounding areas, I think posting on here will help.

I just think it's strange not a single person had come forward looking for him until he was found dead.

Did he have no friends or family? No former coworkers he kept in contact with?

Why was no one curious about his disappearance? And now that he's been found dead, why is there not a soul stepping forward to ID him?

Kind of strange in modern america with fingerprints and DNA. Also, no id or money? No cellphone? No serial number from an electronic purchase that could track where he purchased the electronic and with what payment?

Maybe they should take his dna and wait for a match like the golden state killer.

Collier County... I see Naples referenced. I've seen it stated that he was only 5 miles from the highway. But, at 83 pounds, I can't imagine him making it there. So many possibilities as to why he let himself starve like that.

How the hell can he be from Louisiana and starve himself???

Has anyone tried identifying the other people in that photo?

If boggles my mind.

There is a company in Texas who is working with his DNA. Hopefully, they can come up with something.

It was said that he left his belongings in storage with a friend. An attic, and extra room, basement?

He also didn't have a phone with him. He was found with $3,640.

He had notebooks. His notes were said to look like that of an IT person. Apparently, he played Screeps. I find it hard to imagine that he spent a year or two without access to any electronics.

wtf is “weight heavy?”

Meaning he was carrying too much weight to be comfortable on a long-distance hike

Where is this friend? I assume they just took this info from things he told other hikers on the trail.

Something is very strange about this.

I think the pics without all the facial hair would be much more beneficial to IDying him.

Honestly, not even kidding when I say the guy looks like a cousin or a brother of Wickowick from the outdoor board.

I'm not sure about those specific photos, but there were hikers who had blogs that posted about meeting him. There are also pictures of him with people who worked the hostels that he spent time at.

I can't believe he would've stayed somewhere that didn't get a contact number if he dropped dead on them. Or ask for ID.

I agree. So far it's only been info from hikers who remember meeting him. Wait, one day we'll probably learn that he's actually from Yugoslavia and is some sort of pitchfork serial killer.
