Gymnastics, tennis, and swimming will all be discontinued after the 2020-21 season. Going to likely see programs cut across most B1G universities

And just watch.. instead of blaming the inept Big Ten for not even allowing the opportunity to play with safety protocols in place.. they'll use this as an opportunity to score political points against Trump even though he has nothing to do with this

This is coming all around the country. Killing athletes dreams of free college for a virus that literally would never affect them. Think of how many low income/minorities achieve their dreams (track and field, for example) through scholarships which are funded via football.
H1N1 literally infected and killed college age kids and there was never a whisper of cancelling sports
For so many that champion “women’s rights”, this is going to be brutal for all women’s sports.

It won’t be just the big ten. Even schools that play football will since fans won’t be filling the stadium. Truth is football pays for most other sports to happen. So without filling seats revenue will go down sports will be cut regardless.

It's going to be even worse for men's sports due to title IX. Three of the four programs Iowa is dropping are men's.

The scholarships from those sports going away means less requires scholarship spots for the women’s sports. Those will go away too eventually.

I kid you not there are football writers who are calling for football to give up scholarships because of this.

Their competition pool isn’t even 10yrs old. I was there over the holidays, I hope they’ll bring the team back at some point.

I think you underestimate the commitment of academic administrators to their agenda.

So why can’t they simply be temporary cuts? Who’s to say that they can’t bring back these sports in a few years?

Just setting the stage for cutting more women's sports. Can't just come out and cut womens without huge backlash. They'll be coming.

This will kill title 9.
College football will die before Title IX goes away. Also, Title IX isn’t just about sports.
