Inside the mind of a liberal academic

I represent my university on a Higher Education COVID-19 response panel.
Someone just emailed the entire group this.
I honestly think the only humane thing to do this fall would be to just cancel the semester, pay everyone to stay home (including student workers & hourly staff), then just do as many free courses and as much research from home as we safely can. You'd obviously need new budget resources, but holding Jeff Bezos upside-down and giving him a good shake ought to cover it. With a foot in the door for free higher ed like that, you might even be able to fight for just not bringing tuition back after the pandemic. A crisis is a terrible thing to waste.
With dozens of Amen's and Agreed. This is how they think.

This may be the dumbest thing I’ve read .
Also, the budget resources should be code word for trimming the fat off of the unnecessary and bullshite admin positions

I think Ray Stanz put it best.
“I loved the university. They gave us money and didn’t ask for much. You haven’t worked in the private sector. I have. They expect RESULTS.”

Another anti-capitalist retard.
This person would fit in well on this board.

How about cut the salary of all academics and pay them all the mean salary of the U.S. which is 49,700 a year.
Then apply the savings to lower tuition.

How exactly would a random university in Mississippi take money from Jeff Bezos?

Another fine example of how Socialism is immoral because it promotes greed.

Would this be done via a state apparatus or just have a group of self proclaimed anarchists extort the funds from Bezos by any means necessary?
I hope the people who received this email are informing this individual of his/her cognitive shortcomings.

So, an academic focusing on a subject which is purely a government-focused field.
IOW, an academic’s academic. What they teach is so heavily regulated that it is inefficient by design and you can’t prove how worthless they are for decades in most cases.

City and Regional Planning...makes sense. Sounds a lot like Central Planning. A good little commie prof there.

I always stand amazed at how so many of these idiots think there is a magical money tree that they can picked whenever without consequence. I really should be at the point where I’m no longer amazed.
