Remember how good Derek Stingley is?

In case you need a reminder
PFF ranks CFB players for next year
Stingley is 4th behind Lawrence, Fields, Sewell (Chase is 6). But check this quote:

At this point, you all know how great Stingley was in his 2019 true freshman campaign. Not only was he the most valuable cornerback of the season, but it was also the most valuable year we have ever seen by a non-quarterback in the PFF College era.

Oh god I forgot about that

The best part is he is still hungry and improving. He works his tail off year round. And, he won't forget what kind of game Devonta Smith had last year - I'm really looking forward to that matchup this year.

He was filthy in the sec championship.
Off topic: when he had his first punt return against Ga southern and almost broke it I thought he was going to score several TDs returning punts last season.

They love them some Derek Stingley

The gap between Stingley and the second cornerback on this list is massive. Stingley shattered PFF records across the board in his 2019 true freshman campaign, notably putting together the most WAA we have ever seen by a non-quarterback in a single season.
Stingley was one of the most battle-tested corners in the country a season ago. He saw a whopping 94 targets -- second most among cornerbacks -- but he managed to allow a 38.3% catch rate and produce a 91.9 PFF grade that ranked fifth and first, respectively, among players at his position. Stingley also forced tight coverage on more than 75% of his targets -- a figure that leads all returning Power 5 cornerbacks and is more than 27 percentage points above the FBS average. On those 71 tight-coverage targets, he allowed just 20 to be caught, he forced 20 of them to fall incomplete, and he picked off another six.
Stingley just had one of the best seasons we have ever seen in the PFF college era, and SEC offenses will have the pleasure of dealing with him for another two years.

I'm still trying to figure out when is the last time a player was named, 1st Team All American, Freshmen All American, 1st Team All Conference, and wasn't vote Freshmen of the Year in that particular conference.

Don’t forget he was also voted the unanimous SEC Newcomer of the Year by the AP

I think we will see him return more punts this year. Sting Sr. Said that they told him to secure the ball more than return it bc of the offense we had last year. We didn't need him to be a home run hitter, this year we may need that spark.....we may not....but it is a tool we have.

Mad props to Fulton for making everyone throw at Stingley. This year QBs will be choosing between Flott or Ricks

I'm not surprised of the 3 ranked ahead of him, but if we are talking about guys that are the most pro ready I would challenge anyone to tell me one player who is more ready to compete as a starter in the NFL. The ONLY one that I can even think of and this is debatable is Chase. I know that's a homer pick, but in the practice videos this year and last it seems that Chase wins an awful lot of those one on ones. When we look back I think we are watching two of the best LSU football players ever... and they go up against one another every practice.

I agree that Stingley is more pro ready than Lawrence and Fields for sure. I think Sewell is the guy that would challenge Stingley as far as pro ready goes. Both Sewell and Stingley seem like right now they could suit up and be above average NFL starters

Loved that video he put out of him and Chase going at it

He is IT as far as a football player goes, the play that comes to mind is his IQ, when he got the fumble from Delpit’s hit on Lawrence, he could have tried to get a few yards on the return, instead protected the ball, went straight to the ground, knowing the huge significance of the play, the time on the clock, the thought of getting it stripped, and in such a BIG moment in time while just turning 18yrs young, spoke volumes of how GOOD this kid is!
