Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Considered Donating To Fan Petition for New ‘Game of Thrones’ Ending

Were you surprised that some “Game of Thrones” fans wanted a more dramatic death for Jaime?
I was aware of the petition for a new ending, which I thought was hilarious. I almost wanted to donate to that petition. HBO saying, “You’re right, so many people want it, we’re going to do it.” I think everyone had their own opinion. I find the world of fandom really interesting. Everyone wanted something specific and different from what they got. It’s a combination of — you imagine an ending; but also, I think if you’re a hardcore fan, it was really upsetting that it ended. You lived with this for eight seasons. There is still a massive community dedicated to “Game of Thrones.” I think there was a real fear that was going to go away. It had to end.
If you had to redo the ending, would you do anything differently?
Oh, how did it end? He was — no, it was fine. It was great. It was fine. How do you end that story? Let’s talk about this in 10 years, then you can talk about it. But now, I think it’s a little too recent.

Confirmed that Jaime really was hit in the head with those rocks.

His ending was so bad it was as if D&D were directly spitting in the fans face. There’s no way in hell thats the way he’s going to die in the books if by some miracle they’re ever released. Cersei was on borrowed time who did nothing in the final two seasons but drink and frick. It’s clearly supposed to be Aegon and Arianne that are supposed to be in King’s Landing by the time Dany arrives there. If you want a Scouring of the Shire ending, you can not have the only known characters being the victims of it being a Mad Queen, a murderous Jack Sparrow, Josef Mengele, and Frankenstein’s monster and have it be remotely sane or effective.

I forgot Jaime died. Had to think for a minute. It was that forgettable.

The books (if ever written
)will almost certainly end his story differently as they did a better job of building up his walking away from Ceresi. And highlighting the depth of her betrayal of Jamie.

Anyone else read that in Jaime's voice?

Did he momentarily forget the ending ?

Isn't that what we all try to do?

Loosing his hand, NOT FORGETTABLE.
Dying, completely forgettable.

It would have been a far more effective to have had Jaime die from the collapse, Cersei live but be pinned down in the rubble, and a then grief stricken Tyrion kills Cersei after she blames him for Jaime's death.

I had no problem with Jaime going back to Cersei. It was a sickness so strong he couldn't resist it, but the way their deaths went down was absurd. I guess it technically satisfied the valonquar prophesy, but barely. The fight with Euron was possibly the dumbest part of the finale.

More poor story telling. Never explained why Euron wanted to kill him so badly.

I do. It says Jaime can’t be truly redeemed. I’m fully convinced in the books the next time Jaime sees Cersei he kills her. He is somewhat over Cersei and very much hates her. He will kill her in the books (towards the end of WoW). Cersei was on borrowed time simply due to removing Faegon from the story and Lena Headey being a great actress.

You being butthurt that the ending didn't fit into your personal narrative of how it should have ended was the only silver lining of season 8.

Jaime’s character is ruined. Watch this and then say to yourself “yeah, him coming back to Cersei pussy whipped with his dick in his hands, shortly after fricking Brienne, is a satisfactory ending for the character.” Oathbreaker
Not to metion his ridiculous comment in his death episode that he never cared much for the commoners, despite sacrificing his honor for them. His arc should have roughly been Zuko’s in Avatar the Last Airbender.

Most of the actors, save for Kit and Nikolaj, basically told the fans to go screw themselves after the backlash. Lena and Emilia weren’t happy with it but they kept quiet.
It was hilarious to see Netflix reject Dumb and Dumber after season 8.

To be fair some of the a-hole fans went directly after the cast and crew for the disaster that was that season, so can’t blame them in some ways. There are only 3 people responsible for the ending being a disaster: the fat man and Dumb and Dumber.

What didnt make sense to me all the Dothraki left for takeover of kings landing. No way in hell there were that many left
I saw Jorah Ghost and maybe a 10 others make it back. After they went charging blindly into the dark
Why wouldn't they use the dragons riding on top like when they decimated Jamie and his army? Made no sense

Emilia Clarke knows what's up.

D&D even said after that episode that was to show the end of the Dorthraki. Yet in the next few episodes, there’s hundreds of them. Those 2 knew they were not giving their best so they settled on making things look cool instead.
