They should just re-schedule the LSU-Texas game for Sep. 19th

Big 12 has left open the possibility of playing an outer conference game? I never understood the intra conference only idea that the SEC implemented. So UT can travel all the way to West Virginia and Iowa but not take the 1 hr flight to Baton Rouge? SC can take a 3hr flight to BR but not a 1.5 hr drive to Clemson?
I'm obviously happy these conferences have elected to move on with the season, but they could really take advantage of the spotlight they have and do some unique outer conference games to kick off the season. The SEC copycatted the conference only idea from the BIG 10 who is so obviously now incompetent. They should re-evaluate that decision that clearly has no logic behind it other than to pander to the blue checkmarks that they are taking all precautions to keep student athletes safe.

The reasoning has nothing to do with geography. It has to do with having unified protocol across conferences. This is a good possibility if the ACC, Big 12, and SEC get together.

Probably has to do with limiting how many teams you’re coming in to contact with. South Carolina or whoever coming and playing us is different because the teams they’re playing are the same teams we’re playing. Texas coming here and playing us puts both the SEC and Big 12 a risk.

This, too. But, 1 more team added to the mix, if they have consistent protocol, doesn't make that much difference in the number of teams that you come into contact with...especially if it's before conference starts.

It’s not really one more team you’re coming into contact with it’s Texas + whoever they play/played. It could possibly work week one but I don’t see the point in risking that.

I’ll put it this way. Let’s say you and your girl are adventurous and part of a weekly swingers party. Everybody agrees to only bone the people at the party. Now Johnny goes home and decides he’s gonna be a rebel. He buys a bag coke and calls up local lady of the night to come over to his place. Beside his better judgement he didn’t know was that she riddled with the clap. The next night he then heads over to the swingers party where he just so happens to draw your wife’s keys. They go home and he gives her the night of her life but leaves you and your wife with a little surprise and an awkward trip to the doctor.

The Big 12 already stated all their non-conference games will be home games.

They’re basically saying if we play an OOC game it’s going to be an automatic win game. Not chancing an L. Texas will play UNT or UTEP.

Texas has stated that they will not travel for an OOC game this year. Their one OOC game, if they play one, will be at home.

when the teams selected for the playoffs are announced and LSU and Texas are matched up for the Peach Bowl will the game be cancelled?

Give it up. LSU isn’t playing Texas this season unless it’s in the CFP

Tom Herman before SEC announced no OOC games this fall:

What’s an outer conference game?

F them. I knew when all this started, they would somehow be able to weasel out of a return game at LSU. Their band needs to be in east upper and their fans as well. Make a one time exception just for this game.....
But that game will not ever happen. Just another reason I can't stand the Donghorns

What a shame I really hate it for personal reasons. My 75 year old dad has cancer and he’s a Texas grad and I went to LSU. He’s a tough old bird because he’s been fighting it for a few decades. Agent orange and Vietnam nuff said. Years ago when they announced a home and home I got excited about it. It’s not one of those neutral site games it’s a game against a quality opponent that has a lot of bragging rights within my family on each of our home fields. I remember talking to my father about it and he was also excited but stated he more than likely would not be alive to have the pleasure of watching the games. Well we went to last years game but not this year. If they reschedule the game more than a year or two down the road we won’t get to see it together because his light is really starting to dim. Out of all the games I wanted to see this season it was Texas in Tiger Stadium.
