The 2020 Election Isn't Just A Referendum on President Trump; It's A Referendum on America

On one side, you have the people who love America. They grew up believing in Faith, Family, and "The American Way." You can find these people in churches across the country on Sunday morning, taking their sons to Little League baseball games on Tuesday night, and attending high school football games on Friday night. They not only believe America is a good place; they believe America is THE BEST PLACE.

On the other side, you have an assortment of malcontents who believe that America has not served them well, even to the extent of outright (current day) oppression. They have a seemingly endless list of manufactured grievances, including racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and even including the rather conventional accusation of income inequality. Many of them have even claimed that a biological virus has been proven to be racist. One of them, a woman who grew up a victim of sexual molestation and incest to amass both a media empire and a financial fortune currently estimated at $3.1 BILLION DOLLARS, nevertheless now creates programming content where she browbeats people WHO HAVE MUCH LESS POWER THAN HER into admitting that they are racist and have racial privilege.

Much like reducing a fraction to it's most basic level, this is what the 2020 election boils down to:

1) Almost everyone who believes in the goodness and even greatness of America will vote to re-elect President Trump.

2) Almost everyone who dislikes or even hates what America stands for, and believes that America has not been good to them, will vote for Joe Biden.

On November 3, 2020 we will see which PERCEPTION of America will prevail. Simple as that.

Edit - I changed the title to say that this election isn't "JUST" a referendum on President Trump, because obviously it is somewhat a referendum on him, too. It's more about the country, though.

I think this is largely correct. Whether you like Trump or not, it's clear that we're not where we were 20 or 30 years ago in normal politics where most truly were patriotic but genuinely felt there were different paths to getting to the end goals.

Today, it's clear that there is a large and what seems like growing contingency of people in this country that honestly hate the place they live and want to turn it into something entirely different. That's not a case of an alternate way of doing things...it's destroying the country to build something else.

Hate the guy if you must, but I'm not sure how anyone who loves this country could vote Democrat in this election seeing what's currently going on. There's no way the vast majority of regular Democrats want a country that their radicals want and will get if things go their way.

Unfortunately, it increasingly looks that those who hate America are the majority now.

Conservatives like to say we are the silent majority, but it's looking like the silent minority.

Only because the MSM is giving them the bigger floor and more coverage...

Not really...

I completely agree.

If everyone plays by the rules, Trump/America should win.

That's a big IF. I have no confidence in the voting procedures this fall. The dims will do anything and everything to take this election.

Your post strikes me as more aspirational than currently diagnostic. The people who will decide this election may find Trump distasteful but vote for him anyway because of his policies. Others may find the increasingly progressive Democratic party unsettling but vote for Biden because of Trump's failings. Trump needs to make the election a referendum on America, rather than Trump, but I am not sure the GOP is succeeding in doing so.

Trump has to win not just beyond the margin of error but beyond the margin of frickery as well. I'm still confident.

That a lifelong do-nothing that never carried a state in a Dem primary, even finishing 3rd in Delaware vs Hildawg.

Now, at life's end stages and three decades past his best self in mental faculty..

Is winning due to DNC rigging, in getting their poseurs to all step aside...

Speaks to the Left's stupidity & insanity.

In fact, I'm confident enough to double post.

Yeah, it looked like HRC was going to sweep up in November of 2016 too.

Appearances mean shite. Biden supporters aren't afraid to admit it, because the MSM Propaganda Machine says that's ok. But do you see Biden signs in yards and on bumper stickers?

OTOH, Trump supporters are afraid to be vocal because the MSM Propaganda Machine and the radical left has proven that they will do literally everything within their power to doxx, bankrupt and ruin anyone who openly admits to support President Trump.

The silent majority is real. Make no mistake. Show up in November and vote, and you'll see.

Eh. Certainly not if the Senate holds. But Biden doesn't want this shite. Haven't you seen the Dem brass doing their best to quietly impede the Squad and their ilk?

Most of America hopes there is actually a debate and a large meteor strikes the podium directly with them both on it.

Barring that I will abstain from voting this cycle for the first time in my life, it matters not for Trump will win as he is the least shitty of the two shitty options.

Why even mention Biden's name? Biden doesn't know what Biden wants at this point. Are we still pretending Biden is a rational, not compromised actor at this point?

No. In fact, not one Dem Senator would say a bad thing about Antifa the other day when asked to. They either agree, or are too scared to disagree. either way, they no longer hold the real power on their side of the aisle.

You're falling for the media narratives. For example, if you only watched network commercials for your views on demographics, you would think that blacks make up half the population, 25% are gay, and mixed race marriages out-number same race ones.

Don't all for it!

I think you're oversimplifying the election here. You've got two bases, polar opposites of each other, who are vocal, visible, and dug in for their respective candidates. In between, you've got a lot of people who want conservative economic policies, who hate seeing rioting and unrest, but who believe there needs to be some dialogue about inequality in America. Some of those folks love Donald Trump and some of them don't. Some of them like what he's accomplished but don't think he's worth a flip at being a statesman. And it'll come down to which side those folks in the middle feel more comfortable with.

The side that best courts those voters, just like in every other election in recent memory, will win.

I am assuming that you INTENTIONALLY selected a photo of two non-American kids (a Japanese kid and a Panamanian kid) playing baseball as a visual aid to your "Truth, Justice and the American Way for Trump" OP. I mean, it is right there on their SHIRTS, so you MUST have known.

But I admit that I am missing the point that you are trying to make with these foreign kids playing baseball.
