This ain’t the Spanish flu. Risk to school age kids is less than respiratory illnesses we deal with every year.
Even with the funny math they are using, statistically this is a small percentage of overall US deaths and not much deadlier than pneumonia and flu.
US fatalities from February 1- August 1, 2020
Age range 5-14 had 2,611 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 130 of those. Covid was responsible for 20.
Age range 15-24 had 16,553 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 297 of those. Covid was responsible for 225.
Age range 25-34 had 33,993 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 909 of those. Covid was responsible for 1074.
Age range 35-44 had 48,090 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 1,761 of those. Covid 2728.
Age range 45-54 had 89,394 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 4,254 of those. Covid was responsible for 7,299.
Age range 55-64 had 206,614 total deaths. Flu/pneumonia were responsible for 11,944 of those. Covid 17,583.

Common sense is not the determining factor here.

Children have mostly been quarantined since March. Those numbers will change quickly when schools open soon.

If we went by stats this lockdown would have been over months ago and no one would be contemplating postponing or canceling football.

Lol. Where do you live? Kids are hanging out normally where I live. College age kids partying as much as they can

The conversation has long since moved from deaths. It(the conversation) is about the unknown long-term heart effects, which I agree, is a legit concern. But it’s just as much a concern if you get it at the grocery store, school, church, riots—I mean, “protests”—etc..
But it’s really about avoid being tied up in liability lawsuits for the next decade or longer. Just nobody has the balls to admit it.

Dr's delivering killshot with potential heart damage:

University leaders and conference executives are grappling with new information from the medical world about the virus’ after effects on its victims, exacerbating an already difficult conundrum: risk it and play a fall season, or sit out and watch an industry potentially crumble?

Where I live most of the positive cases are for the 15-24 year old range. So you are saying going to school will cause more deaths for these kids instead of going to each other’s houses, parties and recreation activities with each other? You my friend have been tricked scared and need to look at stats instead of watching TV.

Does the virus discriminate on the severity of this potential heart damage based on where or the manner in which you are infected? Will football players’ potential damage be worse if they contract it in a locker room rather than a classroom?

Convenient
Considering the overwhelming majority of hospitalized COVID patients they are seeing already have heart damage from diabetes, obesity, and hypertension

Schools have been open in Europe and multiple studies (that i can provide to you) have stated that the transmission of Covid in children is nearly zero.

You have a link for these #s? Seems to make a lot of sense but would like a link to the actual data report.

You are correct nearly 60 percent of deaths have hypertension as a comorbidity

Slight devil's advocate, they weren't going to play without fans and ran out of time to kick the can down the road.

The narrative keeps changing. Now they are worried about long term cardiac complications.
