Best spot for fishing (specks) camp in Louisiana?

Doing a little daydreaming at work about a future fishing camp. Obviously things change and "best" is mostly subjective but where do you guys think the best spot for a fishing camp in Louisiana would be if you are primarily trying to target speckled trout?

Are you looking for Quantity or Quality?

How far is Shell Beach from your crib? Distance would be the deciding factor in any camp be it fishing or hunting.

Been here long enough to know how this goes. I’m prepared haha.

I’m in mandeville so about 1.5 hours from shell beach. That is actually where I primarily target trout and I feel confident about finding redfish in the marsh between Hopedale and delacroix. Hopedale would definitely be my first choice.
I’d say quantity would be my goal. I’ll make a few trips to Texas every year to target the big girls.

Plot Twist: Dream camp is a jack-up barge. Park it wherever you want and have a bay boat on board to put in the water to fish.

For a Texan, that is easy. Hackberry. We already own that lake anyway.

You just think you own it:)
We let you catch the participation trophy on occasion.

Yep. 30 min drive to Big Lake or 4 hour drive to Grand Isle. I like both but would obviously use a camp in Big Lake much more.

Big lake fishing blows now.

Yes it does.
I wasn’t saying one is better than the other. Just closer.

If you are an A-hole then Hopedale might fit your needs. I believe it is a requirement for all locals

Why would you want a camp 30 min from home? Just stay at home and drive 30 min to launch?!?
Camp is needed when the fish/hunt is so far from home you can’t sleep at home and still get up at a somewhat reasonable hour to get to the fish/game

WTF is this nonsense? The camp (whether it is a duck, deer, or fishing) is where you go to escape the wife and all that other drama bullshite that is at the house. I could give zero fricks if it was down the street. Granted it needs a little separation so you don't get unexpected surprise visits but distance is not a deal killer for my camp. Heck our best camp/hunting trips are at the duck camp that is only 30 minutes from Monroe.

Not a bad idea haha. Or even a barge made into a camp.
I think a 1-1.5 hour drive is perfect. It makes 1 night trips not so bad
