If JaMarcus wouldn't have held out, would his NFL career be different?

Burrow signing has made me think back.
Obviously Jamarcus held out so long, the Raiders were fricked and had to just take other QBs into camp and further, into preseason. But what if he'd have signed early and went in with coaches early, being able to be lead and trained by a competent vet?
I don't think he'd have lived up to the hype but he might have had some different luck.
Now, it is the Raiders so I'm sure it would have still been a wreck. But what could have been?
Thoughts?

Depends on the local Golden Carrol status

How could anyone know that answer?

No, the money did him in....
so much money so quick.
Why play football>?

Hold out or not he was lazy. Didn't watch film enough, didn't train enough.

No because you can’t teach work ethic. He was as lazy as they came once he got paid.

JR held out bc he's lazy and didn't want to work. He sucked bc he was lazy. His career couldn't have been any different without becoming a worker. Burrow is a hard worker; that's why he has a chance.

If he was dedicated to be in playing shape and not grow to the size of an OT. If he was dedicated to learning the playbook. If he was dedicated to stay off the purple drink. If he was dedicated to outworking everyone at practice.
If he was dedicated he would have done better. He wasn't.

If they had not given him a guaranteed contract, it may have made a difference.
With his lack of dedication, a lack of money may have made a difference.

He got a check in his early 20's and realized he'd never have to work again. Won't have to worry about CTE as much, either.
I realize he's one of the biggest busts ever but I don't really blame him

I do not think so. It was not a talent issue, but a mentality issue. He might have been somewhat more successful if he was not with the Raiders, but the guy is who he is.

JR liked Purple Drank more than he loved football

dude was so lazy he couldn't even muster up 2 minutes to put in the blank tapes the coaches gave him to study...

No he played for the Raiders who had a shitty line, shitty receivers, and they were just a down right horrible organization

I believe his signing bonus may have been $40M or so. I also think he didn’t have the mental capacity to read defenses as well as an NFL QB should. That just MHO though.

I highly doubt a couple more weeks of training camp would’ve made much difference
His work ethic is what got him cut from the league without a second shot so quickly. He just wasn’t ready mentally for that kind of expectation and work load

1) as has been mentioned, I don't think it would've made a big difference. I do think it'd have helped some, but ultimately he seemed destined to bust.
2) It's crazy that the Raiders let it get to that point. The team holding the 1st pick can negotiate with players they're looking to select. So they should've at least known the parameters of what Jamarcus and his agents were looking for, if not had the contract done prior to the draft (the Texans had Mario Williams signed before the draft began the year before).
I don't even think Jamarcus's demands were out of line with what top overall picks - and especially QBs - were getting at the time. Matt Ryan got more money overall and guaranteed on his deal the next year, and he was the 3rd pick.
Of course, this is Al Davis and the Raiders, so....

They still would have had syrup wouldn't they? Then no, he wouldn't.
