It's 2.5 hours away so I think probably outside of the zone they have control over.
i obviously have no idea what its like for the average person in Quebec but I would assume they would give the same argument that Jerry Jones gives for keeping football teams out of Austin and San Antonio

The clear choice is Houston as long as Houston can buy enough tickets

Crazy how a city the size of Tampa has thrived with their Lightning and Atalanta such a larger city with plenty of corporate money and transplants couldn’t support the Thrashers.

There seems to be this idea that Texas teams don't get good fan support, but they do. Another aspect of this is that maybe fans in Miami and Phoenix just suck, much like Atlanta (except for soccer, of course).

Houston supports the Astros very well, easily a top tier baseball city, and the Texans get probably average NFL support

Yea you’re giving cities with crappy general fan support a sport that they really have no reason to support. And honestly those franchises have generally been pretty bad if I’m not mistaken which can’t help either

Yeah, for sure. Vegas wouldn't be what it is if the team was terrible.

Milwaukee is better. Instant rivalries with St. Louis and Chicago. Already are in baseball.

Tampa has a title and have still been very good for the most part since then. They've also had great players come through there (Stamkos, Lecavalier, St Louis, etc). Star power, team success, you get asses in seats.

I dont really remember much from the thrashers other than Lil Jon liked them and they were perennially trash. Not a recipe to grow a fan base.

Didn't their ex-team win the cup their first year in Colorado?

I went to a coyotes game in 2001 when I was over there for the LSU-ASU series. The place was packed. Great time.

They never have any fans because both teams are usually terrible. Probably any other city would draw just as bad if the team made the playoffs once every decade.

Because the Quebec Metro is roughly 800,000 people.

That’s the same as El Paso.

Coyotes games are a lot of fun, but like everyone has said already the stadium is way too far away. My office is downtown and it still takes almost an hour to get there on a weeknight after work. If you live in the East Valley it's at least an hour.
