Man’s best friend

I have had a dog all my life, except during college. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Current dog is a golden retriever, prior to that had a lab/Australian shepherd mix. She was awesome and tough as nails. Years ago a house we owned had a board fence in the backyard. She hated it, I think because she couldn’t see out, and would dig underneath it to get out. I installed an electric fence to deter her. Nope! Crazy mut still would dig out while getting shocked.
If you grew up with dogs and don’t have one now, why?

I don’t want anything digging under my fence

Just waiting to move to land big enough and we will have multiple dogs.

I like dogs way more than most people.

My pups are inside dogs.... no worries here. The only thing they dig is a spot under the covers.....

I’ll play devil’s advocate. Dogs are a lot of trouble, much like raising a child. However, they are not nearly as rewarding.

Rewards of both dogs and children are a reflection of the effort you put into them.

I lst my GSD dog in 2011, too painful to get another. When I get another, it will be when it has ahigh potential to outlast me.

Just got another one again a couple of months ago. Took about two years to want to "replace" my last dog who passed away.
Love having dogs around, but let's be real. They're a pain in the arse sometimes. Especially puppies.

I've had a few dogs, the last one an Aussie. I still miss every one of them. They add a lot to your life and become part of your family. The main reason we don't have one now is because it tore the missus up so much to have to send the Aussie back to her maker at age 15, that she never wants to go through that pain again.
Dogs do take up time, but the time you put into the relationship, you get back with dividends. The only real problem I see with dogs, is they just don't last long enough.

75 lb lab pup on my lap while typing, two others by my feet. Always have had a lab and always will, super companions and great with kids.

Sorry man, it’s one of the most selfless decisions we can make

Same here. Don't want to go through that again.

I have a black lab/pit mix
I would have never gotten a pit bull, but she was dropped on my lap.
I’m thinking about getting another dog so she’ll have company while I’m at work, but I’m worried two of them might destroy the house.
