Is HBO just trying to piss everyone off with HBO Max?

oh ok, well I have a ps4 and xbox one. i installed the app on my xbox one and...it won't validate my account because
...it won't accept my HBO subscription via Amazon Prime
so, instead of just having a Roku app like every other provider, i have to use another outlet AND switch my Prime-based membership to Hulu
seriously what the frick?

If you have hbo through Amazon prime, you don't get hbo max.

Going through the same thing with PeacockTV. Really wanted to start Yellowstone from the beginning. One tv has a Roku box the other is an Amazon Fire TV. Peacock isn’t available on either one. Wtf?

If you are going through a firestick or fire tv, you can google how to bypass the encryption or whatever to get Max on NOW. I did it when it came out and havent had any problems getting Max.

Works like a charm on my Apple TV and the UI is better than HBO Go and HBO Now

I don’t know the details on HBO Max, but Roku May be the issue.
They’re still haggling with NBC about Peacock.
Roku wants to sell adds not just hardware.
But HBO is a mess in general.
HBO, HBO Go, HBO Now HBO Max.
Whatever I’m getting with this Amazon Subscription.
What’s the difference?

Can someone explain to me like a 5 yo how do I get HBO Max? I have HBO through Spectrum and I have a Fire TV and Roku. My TV is LG OLED. Where do I download the app if it doesn't work on Roku or Fire? I looked on HBO's site and their instructions are shite.

That’s on Prime not HBO or Roku. I have all three. HBO MAX Only works as a stand-alone app. I wish it could be integrated into Prime.

Works great on chromecast, and came included with cable package.
Also works fine on my ps4.

It pisses me off. Basically, you have to have an Apple TV to be able to use the service. Why advertise the service if you haven't negotiated a deal with EACH platform before you premier. Otherwise, you are just advertising frustration to potential customers.

Works fine on my PS4 that I coincidentally have hooked up to a Roku TV, watched The Kid last night on it.
