Not Satisfied With Just Having Summers Off, Teachers Push For Fall, Winter, Spring

Teachers don’t have the summers off and don’t get paid to sit home in the summertime. Nice try though.
Instead of getting bigger checks during the school year, they get smaller ones spread out for 12 months instead of 9. They have to do lesson plans, attend in-services, take continuing education classes, curriculum meetings, and a lot work second jobs because after taxes and health insurance teachers make between $2800-3300 a month.

Unpaid Prego leave is BS. Hell at my company even the dudes can take a Prego leave and it not effect pay or vacation days.

There used to be around 180 days in a school year. That's not even 6 months. 9 is being pretty generous.

2800-3300 per month? Try much lower than 2800 PER MONTH. Teachers work later than some ppl that get off at 5pm and take work home plus go in on the weekends and summers. Good teachers work there butts off.

A few weeks of continuing education credits is hardly work. Count professional days after school is out and before school starts, it gets you to a whopping 10 months of work. Well, a week of spring break and at least 2 weeks for Christmas...you’re back to 9 months.

My parents are both public school teachers. They have been maxed out on the district pay scale for awhile now. They each have a salary of $94,000. A first year teacher with a bachelors degree makes as much money as you state above, in our state. You can get a masters online during your first 1-2 years of teaching and be at $61k in our district by year 3.
