As a teacher desperate to get kids back in school I can't even disagree with you. It's a travesty what is happening to our kids right now. Just know we aren't all lazy dumb shits

Right. Which is why I'm saying if you're working virtually from home, time to head back to the office. You're clearly not doing work and shouldn't be getting paid.

I'm not at all going to imply that teachers aren't working when "virtual learning" is in place. I will say that their reasoning for keeping schools closed is bullshite. You see that bullshite when you look across the country and see childcare services that have remained open under new guidelines and community centers and YMCAs that have stayed open. None of these have shown to be vectors of spread.
Open schools for those parents who feel comfortable sending their kids to school. Allow older or sickly teachers to stay home and conduct virtual classes. Keep a close watch and adjust as science and logic dictates. Do not start from the viewpoints of emotion and feelings and demand we keep schools closed.

I think most want to work.
But, like everything nowadays, the loudest, alarmist ones get everyone's attention.

Teachers shouldn’t get paid and we should get our tax payers money back that goes to those shite hole public schools

would think they have to get paid something since they have to teach live zoom classes? Right? And prob have “office hours” for students to ask questions?
We’d need some but not nearly as many as for in class school. Furlough all the extra teachers, admin, support staff and they can come back when it’s safe.

In speaking with tons of parents, I can tell you that there are, basically two schools of thought:
1) Somebody better get these damn kids! They’re driving me crazy, and I’ve got to go to work.
2) I’m really concerned with how safe returning to school would be for little Breighleigh right now. I think we are going to do virtual.

What school district has completely cancelled school all together, in-person or virtual?
Part of a teachers pay is essentially for daycare work and having a place to send the kids while their parents are at work. Over half of a teachers work is cut out if they aren’t in a classroom. Tax payers should be getting a massive discount on teachers salaries if it’s online.

Teachers are biting their nose off to spite their face
The value of education, esp public in LA, is the definition of the law of diminishing returns
Everyone should be fine w their kid’s education in public schools in LA as a whole. Being at home is equivalent to being at school at this point
Eliminate the cost of public education and free lunches
It’s a win-win. And I graduated 5th out of 540 in the public system w a 31 on the ACT. The system is no longer viable, and I know this from personal experience
Teachers are more productive now in this system being at home doing what they are doing in the classroom

It is called the “search function “ you stupid frick. Use it.

Lmfao that you think being there for 8 hours a day is all in the name of “learning.” Half of schools purpose is daycare. I know you don’t wanna hear it and it hurts your feelings because you’re a teacher but you gotta get back in the classroom babe.

Love how a couple individual teachers hop on to defend the profession and whining as a whole. Good for you if you aren’t crying and you want to get back in the classroom. I’m sorry the vast majority of your peers are creating a different perception.

This is right on brand with your other, consistently shitty, takes.

That’s nice and all. So is my wife and so does she.
But there is still a large segment of teachers out there that don’t. Which is infuriating for parents and taxpayers with sense

So, not a teacher.
And again, if your kids aren’t learning most of the school day and it’s there for “daycare” then that’s on you for keeping your kids in a shitty school.
