NYPD retirements and a canceled police cadet class

The number of NYPD officers filing for retirement has soared. A total of 503 of New York’s finest have filed for retirement between May 25 and July 3, a 75 percent jump compared to 2019, and between June 29 and July 6 alone, the department said 179 NYPD officers filed, a 411 percent increase from the same time last year.
Giacalone says with the surge of retirements, coupled with a canceled July recruit class, New Yorkers should expect fewer cops, slower response times, and essentially an under-resourced, overworked police.
He said: “These numbers are going to keep on getting worse and worse. And the fact that they eliminated the next class, you're dealing with thousands of less cops in a short period of time, which could spell disaster for the city.” LINK

They should all quit and let New Yorkers rot in the filth they created

Sad to see, but enjoyable to watch.

I don't plan to visit NYC again.

2021 should be a fun time in the city.

Don’t see myself taking the family to NYC for a long time. Was thinking this thanksgiving or Christmas back in February. Nope not now.

Sounds like New York is about to become the city of dreams for democrat voter types. Muggings, rapes and murder, all trademarks of democrat voters and exactly what every one of them deserve

I’m done supporting law enforcement if they are going to continue spending their time chasing hoax free speech violations, finding process crimes for people exercising 2nd amendment rights and not protecting against the violence we’ve seen in these riots. Cut their budgets.

Why would anyone want to be in law enforcement today?

They’re effectively cutting their own budgets.

But it was already like that 30+ years ago. Liberals forget that. There is a reason why black leaders supported the tough sentencing law that Bill Clinton signed.

Anybody who would take their family to New York unless it is completely necessary, is a fool. The place is rotting and imploding before our eyes. You're safer in Beirut.

I felt bad for cops as a generalization as this all occurred, but the ones that stay going forward - I have increasingly less empathy.

I guess I missed my chance to tour New York

Bernie Goetz, our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

Soon, you'd better call Snake Plissken Tours if you want to go.

This is correct. It's like the old saying, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it and I suspect that's what we are about to witness
