If they enforce this shite it gives the other half of the country a legit reason to hate them for being jack booted thugs.
I agree no way should they enforce it.

Why would law enforcement enforce anything on individuals? The governors purview in the state of Louisiana under emergency orders only applies to businesses. If you refuse to wear one inside of a business then the business can ask you to leave. If you don't leave then you're trespassing. Then and only then can you be arrested and charged with something. The only one whose arse is on the line is the business because the government can regulate commerce through licensure with the secretary of state and all the other various industry-specific licensing agencies like the State Board of Cosmetology. If a business doesn't comply they'll just pull their license.
On the individual level,"Mandatory masks" are as mandatory as "mandatory evacuations". Which is to say, not at all. They're just words meant to scare an ignorant public into compliance.

I could be wrong, but didn’t the Governor himself say he wasn’t going to levy any fines or jail for those caught not wearing masks?

What if I identify as a non-mask wearing person? Shouldn’t that matter too?

Since children under 6 are not required to wear them, simply identify as a 5 year old!

I walked around with this on yesterday. Most got a good laugh out of it. Some Karens were staring daggers at me.

"Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon would like to inform the public on how his office plans to address the recent Governors mandate on masks and how it affects the citizens of Vermilion Parish.
“We have been asked by the Louisiana State Fire Marshalls Office to assist by looking into complaints made on business establishments that are not requiring customers to use face masks when entering/exiting a place of business. If we are made aware of establishments allowing the public to frequent without masks, my deputies have been instructed to visit the establishment and give them a gentle reminder about the Governors’ mandate. We will not enforce compliance upon any businesses at this time. If my office receives subsequent complaints for noncompliance by the same establishment, we will then direct the complainant to the Louisiana State Fire Marshalls Office for handling.
Sheriff Couvillon went on to say,” The only time my office will take criminal action in this matter is when a business establishment is following in Governor’s mask mandate by requiring face masks to enter/exit and a customer refuses to wear a mask or leave the premises after being told to do so by the owner (or manager having the authority to refuse service) a deputy shall respond. If the owner or manager pursues charges at this time the person will be cited for trespassing.”
The Sheriff ended saying,” If there is one thing about the people of Vermilion Parish it’s that when times get tough we all come together to help our brothers and sisters in need. I see nothing different in these times. Vermilion Parish and our citizens will prevail.”

what is it about wearing a mask that so many of you so ardently oppose?
I have only recently started wearing one and mostly just to encourage others to do it, but it's no huge burden or anything.
