Who here has a video doorbell?

Are you happy with the purchase? Any pitfalls?

Thinking of getting one, but I need to justify the $200 price tag. The Eufy looks pretty nice without the hassles of a monthly subscription to cloud storage.

Is it worth it for the cloud subscription?

doorbell is almost useless without it IMO. at $2.99/mo its not a huge deal though.

also there used to be ring doorbells that didn't 'pre capture' movement prior to the doorbell being rung and that sucked because you missed everything by the time the video cranked up and all you'd see is the back of the guy walking away.

i know that feature is available on hte 'pro' model and the floodlights but i'm not sure if its made its way into all the ring products at the time. do you research before buying. mctiger probably knows which ring products have this and i'm hoping by now they all do as long as you don't buy an old ring doorbell off ebay or something.

i keep crossing my fingers that amazon will eventually roll the monthly fee into the prime membership since amazon has more cloud storage than anyone on the planet.

i got a free ring pro when i bought a fridge. I was going to sell it on ebay because i wanted local recording. I dont have my system set up yet and not im wondering why not just install it and pay the 30 bucks a year for the doorbell.

I got the ring because neighborhood kids would randomly ring it after dark. I didn't want to shoot anyone, so I got one and it stopped immediately.

The only downside I have ran into is a spider will crawl across it at 3am and it will tell me there is motion at the door and wake me up.

I have a Ring. Be prepared for the idea that you may have to upgrade the transformer if you get a hardwired model. It’s cheap and easy to DIY.

I have the nest version and it is great as well. Of course, Google overlords spying and whatnot aside...

I like the Ring, but my front door gets beat up with direct sunlight for most of the day. I burnt out 2 Ring doorbells on my front door, which is why I now have a standard

Only reason I ask is because the Eufy I’m looking at has a separate device that it connects to wirelessly that stores footage.

It’s about 16gb worth of storage so I figure that’s a few days at least. If I go that route I don’t have to purchase cloud storage.

It’s a pretty attractive feature, but I’m not as familiar with the Eufy brand.

I inherited one.

It's fine. I like being able to see who's at the door and nice to see when packages get dropped off.

I'll probably end up installing some ring floodlights/security set since I already pay for the subscription service.

With that said, I could live without the doorbell as well.

I think all wired devices have it, but Preroll only exists on the recently released 3+ battery doorbell.

Just checked my Ring camera count and I'm at 19!

Spend the extra couple dollars and get the Nest hello. The facial recognition and announcement of the persons name when they ring the doorbell are worth it. I have annoying neighbors and as soon as I here "Dolores is a the front door" I dont even look at my phone.

The Nest seems to have less latency and an overall faster response time. The ring looks cheap and less stylish as well.

I'm at 11 (ring cameras)between 2 locations and I thought that was alot of course I also have hardwired cameras at both locations too

As far as Ring branded doorbells go, I would only recommend the Pro version as it has customizable motion zones. The other models do not and the cost adder is worth it for that alone IMO

i just installed mine after debating if i wanted to get a locally stored device. I just hate that the ring cameras are SO expensive.
