Should the realtor pay for the pics? UPDATE: Realtor getting prof. pics and update listing

Good evening H&G board. We are selling our house due to a move out of state and find ourselves in a quandary.
We met with our realtor 2 sundays ago to discuss the contract and asking price. The realtor I am almost certain mentioned having a photographer come by to take pics of the house prior to listing. Low and behold, today they posted the listing and it is just a bunch of cell phone pics the realtor took.
Am I justified in being upset by this? I could have easily provided far superior pics of my own or would have supplied professional pics if that was needed but I thought that was the realtors job. Again, would love to know if I missed something here or if I just got swindled.
Thanks.
ETA: Realtor indicated they just wanted some pics to post the listing before contracted time was up. Photographer is coming out on Monday to take real pics and listing will be updated accordingly.
Still seems weird and I'm worried it'll affect the marketability of the house.

You hire a low cost realtor this is what you get. My realtor does an HGTV 3-D showing of all her listings.

Yes, you should be upset. Quality pictures are pretty much the #1 thing in generating showings.
However, is your house in a highly desirable area? What’s the average days on market? Perhaps the realtor is assuming they can slide by with free pictures if it will move quickly. If it doesn’t, they’ll get professional pictures done and update the listing.

I am a broker and own a brokerage with a high production team. You hired a clown. All listings need professional photography assuming they aren’t some discount agent. You get what you pay for and this shows the agent is not a professional.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I got in touch with the realtor and they indicated their plan all along was to have professional pictures taken. They were up against a deadline to list the house due to the paperwork we signed and just wanted something to post with the listing.
The photographer will be out Monday, 7/13 and the listing will be updated accordingly.
I'm pretty pissed still that this wasn't communicated but at least happy the pics will be addressed. The market is screaming hot where we are so hopefully it doesn't hurt us.

Mom pretty much wasted her $ on professional pics. They were really good pics too.
Thing is, like OP the house posted online with just a few cellphone pics by Realtor. Posted listing Tuesday, had cash buyer contract offer signed and delivered on Thursday.

You'll be fine.
Doesn't seem like much of a delay in getting good pictures up.
Good luck!

My last home sale the realtor had the photographer out the day before the listing was to go live.. he took the photos and they were uploaded upon the listing going live... they were awesome pics.. He paid for them but in the end it didn’t really matter as location and curb appeal were the most important.. we went out of town and he stuck the sign in the yard before going on MLS and had showings the same day evening...

So the realtor either didn’t plan far enough ahead to take pictures before the contracted period ended and/or was too hesitant to ask you to extend the contracted period in order to wait for professional pictures to be taken. Either way your listing suffers for a week (the opening week at that). Doesn’t bode well for the future negotiating period although you probably shouldn’t be taking this realtor’s advice on how to negotiate your contract anyway.

I agree pictures are very important. I've had personal issues with substandard photos of the dwelling.
Further, the best pictures need to be one of the first few listed. Don't put a picture of a small foyer as the second picture when you have a really nice great room and fireplace

Do you already have a house? I have an updated 3/2 rental in Bishop Arts that will be available at the end of the month.

We have something lined up but it's not a sure thing. The current tenants are waiting on their full time house to finish a renovation and we haven't received a firm commitment from them on when they'll be out.
I'd love to see what you've got.
