Any good “history of racing” movies?

Just finished “Lawless” on the Flix and it only briefly touched on the “we had to put in a suped-up carborator to get an old jalopy runnin’ so fast we could outrun the law...”
Is there any good movies where that is the main focus? Lawless was about the bootlegging, but is there one that starts there and transitions to the start of race car racing?
TIA

Probably a good documentary somewhere about it, more so than a film.
Six Pack
Speedway
Greased Lightning
Stroker Ace
The Last American Hero
Are decent old racing movies though

I'm pretty sure Days of Thunder was filmed right after America beat the brakes of the British army.

There is a documentary about Fomula 1 called "1". It is excellent.
It really shows how dangerous the sport was and is.

Was going to suggest Rush as well. Fantastic movie and really well cast.

I was hoping that there was a movie, well cast, with the premise of:
A handful of bootleggers who’ve suped up their cars to outrun the law during prohibition and decided to race/bet/make money outside of the moonshining business. And then how it is developed and grows into a more official/unofficial “underground racing league” and maybe one family of bootleggers makes a sick fast car that changes everything.
Maybe in the “dramedy” genre? Some comic relief to add levity but loosely based on the historical start of American racing?

Shelby American on Netlix goes into his start in racing after WWII.

Maybe you should try writing that movie.

I haven't seen this in a long time but I think this covers that.

If it’s got good racing visuals, solid pacing, quippy dialogue, a hot female love interest, a charismatic protagonist, cool period cars, and a memorable non-cartoony villain, then yeah

Netflix has a series that covers the 2018 and 2019 F1 seasons. It's excellent. It's called Formula 1 Drive to Survive.
There's also a show on the Williams family of F1 called Williams. One called Senna that I really enjoyed which was a season of episodes. The 24 Hour War documents Ford vs Ferrari.
Prime has a series called Le Mans Racing is Everything. They also have a series called Grand Prix Driver which follows McLaren as they prepared for the 2017 season. It shows how much of the deisgn is seat of your pants stuff and how last minute much of it can be.
There's also a prime show about the racing life of Paul Newman.
That should be enough to get you going.

More serious than you'd expect with Pryor.
49 minute ESPN documentary about Wendell Scott (on Youtube)
Good one where the drivers never get to the track, but there's lots of chase scenes, and mechanic talk.
