ABC, National Parks are racist

ABC
David Vela is the first Latino to lead the agency. I’m sure this is just a coincidence as to why we are seeing claims of racism.
The crux of the article is, minorities don’t want to or can’t afford to go to National parks. And because the country will one day be a majority of minorities, if the parks don’t encourage minorities to visit, they will lose funding and eventually go bankrupt.

"The outdoors and public lands suffer from the same systemic racism that the rest of our society does," said Joel Pannell, associate director of the Sierra Club, which is leading an effort to boost diversity in the wilderness and access to natural spaces. New government data, shared first with ABC News, shows the country's premier outdoor spaces -- the 419 national parks -- remain overwhelmingly white. Just 23% of visitors to the parks were people of color, the National Park Service found in its most recent 10-year survey; 77% were white. Minorities make up 42% of the U.S. population. "That tells me that we've got a lot of work to do," said David Vela, acting director of the National Park Service.
quote:
environmental advocates agree that the racial disparity in the outdoors is an existential crisis. "If we don't address this, and we don't see how all these things are interrelated, then we're going to risk losing everything," said Pannell. "You're not going to have public lands to enjoy."

You obviously don’t enjoy hunting, hiking or camping. Or, you own your own land, which is something not everyone can afford.

Before CA decrim of pot the public lands and Natl Forests were full of illegals growing pot.
Once again, law of unintended consequences. CA legalized pot and drove the Hispanics out of the woods.

When I’ve visited National Parks, there were always tons of Asian tourist. I guess this doesn’t count?

Well start loading them on buses and take them to the parks. It would be good if the city blacks got out and saw something else besides the slums the grew up in.

How many black and Latino people were denied entry to US parks?
This is retard level intellect on display by this guy.
I guess we need to force blacks out of their home by gunpoint and make them go outside and hike or fish since they don’t voluntarily do it on their own?

They have to be including national forests as well. Do they include data of who physically lives in a national forest? I do, and so do a bunch of black people around me

These news people should go to Yellowstone during the summer. Bus loads of Asian tourists, park had signs showing them how to use a toilet. Oh and many are very rude and pushy.

I would rather pay a private owner who takes care of it much better than the government.
