No Robert Stack, but the same creepy music I remember from my childhood
Just finished episode 1 and
*spoilers*
That “best friend” douche Porter definitely killed that guy or at least knows who did

I watched the first two episodes tonight and I enjoyed it.
*spoilers*
Porter definitely killed Rey in episode one and Rob definitely killed Patrice in episode two. Rob sleeping with the box with Patrice’s remains inside is about the creepiest thing I’ve ever heard.

***spoilers***
Episode 1
- dude suffered a psychotic episode and committed suicide. He would have had to hit that roof going head first or feet first to create such a small hole, which indicates he was almost certainly alive and made the conscious decision to jump. Still possible the rich friend chucked him out of a helicopter I guess. I wonder why the Claudia character (house guest) wasn’t a suspect, I thought she may have been in on it.
Episode 2
- husband killed her or had her killed, this episode was a bore compared to first and third
Episode 3
- no clue, but this is a real fricked up situation. I’m leaning towards suicide, but they make a compelling case that dude skipped town.
All in all, this is the most enjoyable thing I’ve seen on Netflix in months. Music and stories are excellent. Not having a host is a good choice. Although I do kinda miss the multiple stories per aspect angle.

So glad they rebooted this show, re-runs of the original series in the late 90s was one of my favorite things to watch as a kid. The wife and I watched the first 2 episodes last night, and thought they were really well done. Would be awesome if they end up adding updates at the end of episodes, should people come forward with evidence or things get solved like they used to do.

Now we just need them to bring back Rescue 911. Greatest intro theme music ever
Posted on 7/2/20 at 10:17 am to GCTiger11
the show desperately needs a narrator.

Need more of the iconic creepy music like the original and they need a host... someone older to bring back just a smidgen of the Robert Slack magic

same creepy music
Yeah, I always thought it had a Michael Myers/Halloween-ish vibe to it. Love it.
Robert Stack is missed. I don't think another narrator would have measured up. Dennis Farrina tried on a previous reboot and failed.
SPOILERS:
It is all so strange. No hotel/street camera footage. No eye witnesses inside or out. Complex roof/ledge access for both victim or assailant(s). Undisturbed phone/glasses, but money clip missing. Long-time friend immediately lawyers up/gags co-workers. Bizzare hidden note taped behind appliance. The only convincing suicide clue is the broken shins imply conscious feet-first fall/jump that makes the small hole. Maybe he was in a secret scandalous Aaron Hernandez-ish relationship with the friend who he moved across the country for and couldn't face his wife or Puerto Rican family?

this is incredibly obvious and i did enjoy the show, but jesus christ the whole "unsolved" part is frustrating. yes im an idiot, i understand.

I liked that they paid a hommage to Stack in the intro

The fricking UPDATE music used to startle me in a weird way.

I tried to but no host and no creepy music throughout plus no multiple stories made me go back and start rewatching the old series on Filmrise.
I probably will watch fully eventually.
Dont know why its so hard to find a deep voice and/or ominous narrator, to do this show. Get the guy who narrates Frontline on PBS if he is still alive, perfect voice.
Just seems like regular documentary now.

The show left out details about Rey and made it seem like he was this straight edge perfect guy. But a lot of stuff that has been documented from the last month or so of his life suggests he was going through a manic type of episode.

I was really looking forward to this reboot but the first episode was sad but incredibly boring. The story was told in 10 mins. Everything else was filler.

Watching the old series on Pluto, it just plays non-stop.
Man, that show takes you back to the 90's - not just the style and haircuts but they were interviewing some guy and on the TV behind him the OJ trial was playing...with Johnny Cochran pointing at something.

I think Rey had a psychotic episode and his suicide is similar to the movie, the game

My girlfriend's early 20s sister said that she started the series but grew frustrated with it because there was never any satisfying endings to the stories.
I thought she was trying to be funny but was being serious.

Just finished the second episode and yeah the husband definitely did it.
I actually remember when this all went down. Cumming is a pretty quiet town so when anything big happens everyone hears about instantly. Crazy to see my hometown ina Netflix documentary

Mostly solid other than the ufo episode. First one was best. Remember Derrick Todd Lee being in the original when he attacked a couple in a graveyard with a machete or something.
