Why shouldn't we work to actually finish the job that Gutzon Borglum started but was unable to finish. Let's finish the sculpting and add lighting, dress it up and, hell I'd even be willing to carve another figure to placate our minority communities. How bout Fredrick Douglas? Heck in the name of inclusivity, I'd even be happy to add to the monument to pay respect to the Native American community, from whom we appropriated the Black Hills. This approach is a lot better than erasing history. We can work together if the right leadership in the black and minority communities want to, but I don't see it at the moment.

I've been once, in 2011. And I will visit again in a couple weeks, this time with my wife.

I did not find it underwhelming.

The natives DO have a monument underway, Crazy Horse, also in the Black Hills.

I could put Frederick Douglas nearby, if you insist, but somehow I see Shumer and Pelosi adding Obama, Oprah and Sharpton to the monument.

The point is to erase history. Erase America. These are fanatics.
Add Frederick Douglas, MLK, Rosa Parks, Sitting Bull and Muhammad Ali and the fanatics would still want it erased.

I believe it's actually physically impossible to add anything else (this came up when people wanted to add Reagan)

Why not just make a separate monument with America’s Mount Rushmore of PoC?

That thing still looks no different than when I visited it 15 years ago. It's nothing more than a scam

Are you aware of the monument to Crazy Horse? Its a real thing and massive, bigger than Rushmore.
