was locked in on the Frontier but now I'm looking hard at the Blackjack 224.
About $9-10K difference in price looks like.
The Froniter seems to be an awesome boat but the Blackjack is my dream boat.
Input??

I’ve actually been comparing the same two boats. The blackjack has better rod boxes, the frontier rod boxes kind of suck. The blackjack can handle a bigger engine, it’s a little heavier and longer, and it holds more fuel. I think the frontier is the best boat for the money but the lines on the blackjack are making me ignore the value. I think either one of those boats sitting on a sport trail will make a fine setup. Join the owners groups on Facebook and you can read about problems and see different setups.

12 years from now, you will have forgotten all about the 9 grand. And....that 9 grand will be 14 grand difference then on a new one.

Just got a new to me frontier. It's a hell of a boat. Wouldn't mind more motor though even though I can get up to 50 with a 150hp. If you can afford it get the blackjack. Can't think of any real problems with my frontier though.

All things being equal, Blackjack is the way to go. But if you are looking at putting $10K worth of accessories that could change. A frontier with an iPilot, Panoptix, and dual powerpoles would be a fishing machine.

I have a Frontier, don’t think I would pass up the Blackjack for the price difference. It just has a more premium feel/look to it.

Thanks everyone. I was leaning that way!

This board always makes me spend too much money but they are usually correct. I'm the same as you a Blackjack has always been my dream bayboat but a Frontier seems like a better choice for my wallet. Heck I'm also looking at the Tidewater Bay Max 2110 based on a friend's recommendation.

haha I hear ya. I am awaiting a quote for each of them rigged out the same. The Blackjack quote may push me back to the Frontier.

Right. Only do the blackjack if you're not skimping on options. Ipilot powerpole etc. Can always get the frontier with a 200hp SHO.

The Frontier is nice, but if the Blackjack is your dream boat then get it.

So the 224s are roughly 50k? I thought they were considerably more.

More like $60k pretty bare where the frontiers are $43k otd (175 zuk, TM, 7” gps. 224 will be mid $60’s with pp, ulterra, 9”-12” screen & 250.

I will be the voice of reason. Get the Frontier. Yes, the Blackjack is the sexy choice but the Frontier is the one to go with if you are pushing your budget. The Frontier is still a very capable boat. The fish won’t care which one you are in.

Frontier an awesome boat!!!
But you said in your OP that Blackjack is your dream boat, so if you can afford it, get it.

Blackjack and don’t look back. Nothing wrong with a Frontier except it’s not a Blackjack.

Blackjacks hold their value very very well and are a lot harder to come by on the used market than a Frontier, so from that stand point, I would think the upfront additional costs of a Blackjack would pay off on the back end.

Very few come across the used market and don't stick around for long. They hold their value really well.Join the group Blackjack Bay Boat Owners or something like that. A lot of good info there and a lot of guys list their boats there. Bill Kenner makes a fine boat. I'm sure the frontier is an okay option to go with, but the Blackjack will for sure hold a better value on the back end.

When it finally came time to buy it my wife suggested we get the bigger 256 and i got a really fair deal on a local boat.
Subtle brag

there is now a $20,000 premium for a 224. You will gain some ride quality, fuel, and most importantly = true self bailing deck. if the boat is going offshore often I'd get the 224. 100%
The 2104 has excellent ride and fishability for the money. These are now rated for a 225 and can achieve 60 mph lightly loaded and propped for speed.
