Have two cypress trees near my driveway, the roots are raising the slab. If I cut down trees and grind stumps will the roots stop growing or is it like a persimmon tree keep growing and sprout from roots? Just want to know how far to chase it.

How old are the trees? When was the driveway slab poured?

Cut down tree, grind stump, grind any exposed knees. I mean pulverize it! Dig out the holes and fill with fill sand. Leave nothing in the holes, but sand. That should kill it.

What to do about the buckling and knees under the slab? That’s beyond me. Those knees may rot and the slab may go back down.

Call Bob's Tree Preservation. years ago, they were able to resolve an issue I had with very similar to your's, and save the tree. LINK /
