Is Louisiana's high school football talent getting worse?

Honestly asking, it seems like these days there are more positions we don't produce and more down years than there used to be. Is this anecdotal or do those of you who follow recruiting more closely than I do see a trend?

I don't know if that's true. LSU is recruiting more nationally the last few years. La has always had great skill talent(WRs, RBs, DBs) but not great QBs or OL. you could take the top 4-6 WRS in La this year and have an outstanding WR group. But hardly any OL.

Not sure to be honest. But 2022 is pretty stacked.

We still produce elite 5* talent year in and year out. That will never change. 2021 and on the future looks really bright.

Quarterback prospects are clearly getting better.....
But I dont think its diminshing. We recruit nationally now....and the recruiting sites arent exactly centered around Louisiana, so a ton of prospects go under radar.
Aka Mathieu, Claiborne, Cushenberry, etc

Never gonna have a problem producing elite skill position players. Really wish the offensive philosophy in Louisiana hs football would change though. Focus more on passing and developing real Qb’s instead of just putting the best athlete behind center

Feels like every year we say that “next year is loaded with Louisiana talent”

It seems like talent has dropped since the split, but that may be my imagination.

I wonder if our shift in offensive philosophy will influence high school coaches to be more innovative in their offenses. We ran the ball 80% of the time for so long and got stud after stud after stud running back from inside the state...I’ve always wonder if the way we played had anything to do with that....I’m sure it’s more to do with if you have a guy like Guice or Fournette or Clyde or Charles Scott, you’re crazy not to give them the ball 40 times a game.

The numbers say North Louisiana, especially NE Louisiana has.

In the mid to late 90s louisiana was producing studs. We just weren't coaching em up

One thing that definitely has had a negative affect is the LHSAA splitting the private and public schools in different divisions

Honestly think we just need better coaches at the high school level. When I was in high school we had athletes that had D1 capability but our coaches were terrible and we never worked out. Dudes were big and fast and the coach never did enough to give them what they needed. Too many washed up high school players/ history teachers are coaches because they couldn’t do anything else.

People are leaving the State, that can't be a good thing over time.

Louisiana has produced EIGHT 1st or 2nd draft choices over the last two drafts.
