I’d lock them out.

If an owner is going to lose money, why would you put on an extreme watered- down product? Doesn’t make business sense.

And the dominoes are now likely set to tumble:
1. Implementation of a short season by MLB
2. Some players choosing not to play.
3. PA grievance
4. Upcoming free agents get destroyed in market
5. All major labor issues merely deferred to next spring.
Mutually assured destruction.

You can’t lock them out it hurts your bargaining. Make some of them strike first and then tear up the CBA and splinter the union. The union messed this up by not calling the owners bluff by signing the first deal. The union heads need to find better legal representation they’ve been let down lately. Just watch them get blasted in the Pirate case

Which is why I can’t take the Union’s side this time. They were fronted money then reneged. They then tried to claim they wanted a look at the books, which they don’t deserve.

The players are going to cost themselves all kinds of money over this.

The owners will live and move on baseball or not. Only a handful of players can make money without baseball.

If it means they lose less money than not playing at all then the owners would obviously go for it.

Not playing doesn't mean they don't lose money.

Owners should file suit against these players for breach of their contract.

You understand that the owners, even with very good reasons, would be just as liable for breach based on their stance of prorated contracts?

I don't give a shite anymore. Both parties tanked the season and soured their working relationship to the point that it's going to frick up another season in the upcoming CBA negotiations. Ultimately whatever unique circumstances that had to be agreed to for a shortened season pale in comparison to the damage they've done in regards to negotiating the next 5 years of the CBA.

I'm as big a baseball fan as you'll find and at this point I really just dont care anymore if they salvage some farce of a season or not. I'm on to college football.

Trevor Bauer

If there’s going to be a fight the time for that fight is after the ‘21 season when a new CBA is negotiated. 5 years of potential change. We’re doing irreparable damage to our industry right now over rules that last AT MOST 16 months. WTF kind of sense does that make? ?????????????????????
