He ain't going to do that old son....he'll take that risk to get TX people into the casinos in Lake Charles....he needs that money to pay off his special interest groups.

Did he really think people would listen to him any longer after repeatedly stating that no one should be jailed for violating his orders? You reap what you sow.

Let's see, we put an SMU grad in charge of the state (Bill Clements) and he shite the bed, we put a Baylor grad (Ann Richards) in charge of the state and she shite the bed, we put a Yale Grad (George W. Bush) in charge of the state and he did decently, we put an Aggie (Rick Perry) in charge of the state and, aside from saying a lot of stupid shite, did pretty well. Then we put a t-sip (Abbott) in charge of the state and he's now shitting the bed.

Lesson: Don't put an SMU or t.u. grad in charge of the state unless the alternative is a leftist whack job and don't EVER put a Baylor grad in charge.

John Connally was a great governor and he pissed orange.

The sample size of aggy graduate governors in our state’s history is too small (one) to really make that deduction.

Yeah, the toothpaste is not going back in the tube. At least not without some serious unrest that makes the BLM BS look like a mensa meeting.

It's always the next question that doesn't get asked much less answered. Are these positive antibody tests or are these people really sick? Ask the damn question to bring clarity. With all these spikes the hospitals should be bursting at the seams. BUT they're not, instead they are hurting financially as all the elective surgeries aren't happening.

Hospitalizations have jumped from about 1,600 a day to more than 3,200

There are not 3200 COVID hospitalizations a day in Texas. And the number they are using is "the number of people in Texas who are infected with COVID-19 who are hospitalized" which can include people in the hospital for anything that also happen to have COVID. Hospitalizations were down across the board while the state was locked down, which makes sense. Texas still had over 14000 available hospital beds as of yesterday.

Abbott just isn't the Governor of Lake Travis, The Woodlands, or Highland Park. He's also the Governor of Eagle Pass, Pasadena, Cedar Hill, Harlingen, etc. The State has a huge population, and placating only suburban and rural whites isnt part of the job description. Abbott's done a phenomenal job as Governor, considering his circumstances.

What is the death rate trend? What is the amount of time in hospitals? How many are asymptomatic as compared to symptomatic? How many in the ICU? What is the age trend?

So we've given up on the theory that it's increased testing or backlogs, and we've moved on to these questions? Alright!

That's definitely part of it. Last week there was a big spike in new cases on one day, but it later came out that 1500 of them were inmates who had previously been diagnosed.

And of course more tests will yield more positives. Is that something people dispute?

How does that trend correlate with death rate?

He’s right, so I’m not sure what some of the morons on here are whining about.

Cases are going up because people are being selfish and lazy. They could wear a mask but ‘Murrica!’

The saddest part is that they act pious and as if liberals are the ones being awful. Hint, you’re both awful.

Taking precautions and social distancing within reason is not violating rights. It’s being a good fellow citizen.

And hospitalization rates specifically for COVID? (i.e., not people in the hospital for something else)

Incorrect. Wearing a mask doesn't stop you from catching COVID. Oh, and cases were ALWAYS going to increase after a quarantine ended. That's what quarantine is DESIGNED to do.

It’s in the penultimate paragraph of the quoted portion of my OP.

The antibodies being present is irrelevant. That started being counted (and why shouldn’t it? They had the virus) before the time period referenced.

I’m sorry where the majority of people at all of the protests wearing masks? That’s hardly the “Murica” bunch.

Virus isn’t going anywhere champ. We can shut down the whole country again and get to 80 million unemployed. Get Biden elected and this whole Covid death per day and media carrying the water will be a fart in the wind.

And you know what Covid will still be here next year and the year after.
