Had a few guys today... 160 rounds and he demanded he have his own cart. I told him no dice. We needed every cart we had and had to turn at least 20... this was with people sharing carts. He threw a fit and told me he was worried about Covid and his safety. I told him he should have stayed home then.
Gave ol baw a refund and sent him in on his way.
Do you guys show up assuming you will get your own cart in the new normal?

Hope he was white, otherwise you’re cancelled.

You arent obligated to give it to him, but I don't think it's an unreasonable request either. Its really easy to stay a decent distance away from others playing golf, if you so choose. That option ends when having to share a cart

I agree. And typically we would allow separate carts. But there are certain days when it’s really not an option. However his response was one where you would have thought I kicked his dog.
Most people coming out to play are not worried about distancing... they just love the convenience of their own cart.

He should have confirmed beforehand then. Sounds like you handled it appropriately

Probably would have allowed him his own cart. Maybe would have given him the option of single rider if he paid a little extra for the empty seat. Definitely wouldn't have let him walk out without playing/paying.
Assuming the guy is older and seemed legit about his covid fears.

If he’s that worried, he should just walk. Most people around here have been walking since all this started. I’m guessing he was fat.

Here in CA it’s mandatory.
The closest course to me right now won’t even let married couples or people from the same household share a cart. Everyone must have their own

Yes you could’ve offered him a pushcart instead of a golf cart

He should've walked if he was concerned. I'm convinced most people want the cart to themselves more for the convenience than the covid concerns

Played in Texas Friday and Saturday, I politely asked on Saturday and was told it would hurt the course because they had 180 on the books. I shared and had no problem with it.

Or stayed home. If he’s truly worried, he should stay home not be on a golf course with other people touching common objects.
OP, you handled it correctly. Prepare for him to bitch about it though

I'd have offered him this. See how worried he really is.
If he pushed back, I'd have done exactly what you did- refund and an invitation to leave.
