Looking at getting a 21’ glass bay boat. Want to spend around 30k all in. Something reliable and a good beginner/starter boat. What should I look out for?

A nautic star should be able to be had. Heavy. Good ride. Plenty of room in a 21 ft. At least a 200. Get you about 40 on the water max. Prop change will help the rpms if motor is a little small for the boat. Especially with the weight.

Used 21’ Frontier can be had for your number and will probably include TM, gps, possibly PP.
New NS for $30k will come with a 150hp but if you can get the Merc 150 it will work better than Yam 150.

Looks like a seller's market out there right now.

Not sure you're going to get to be too picky if you want it anytime soon.

Keep doing your research and be ready to pull the trigger if you see one you like.

I'd recommend used usually, but who knows right now? 2-5 years old would be a good target. Search daily. La Sportsman, thehulltruth, craigslist. THT is a great source for info.

Frontier would be a good find if you get lucky, but there's plenty of good manufactures out there. Hopefully have the bugs worked out of it if it's a couple years old.

Good luck... the search is half the fun!

Just bought a 21 frontier. Great boat. Hard to find anything good right now though. Make sure you're ready to purchase the minute one is listed. Guy I bought from had a line of people waiting with cash.

Will be a buyers market come next spring if you can wait that long. With the corona lots of people buying boats and will be un-assing them once they realize they aren’t using them as much as they thought they would.

In addition to the 21 nautic star look for a blue wave 2200.

They are both 21 ft. The blue wave is wider and has higher gunnels. They both perform pretty well with a 150 as neither is heavy for a bay boat. The NS is around 1609 lbs and the BW around 1700. Go up to the 22 ft NS and it’s 2200 lbs.

Yeah, bruh. 21 ft glass bay boat is gonna be a no go. Either get another vehicle or start looking at smaller boats. Fully rigged out with gear, motor, fuel, etc. and that’s gonna be top of your limits.

It would be easier to list the few to stay away from than to list the good ones.
