I doubt that too many southern boys would have volunteered to go to Fort Sherman or Fort Grant.

volunteered huh?
over half of the troops that fought in WWW1 were drafted conscripts.
I doubt the name of the base they’d been assigned to had any effect at all.

There’s gonna be more statue removals, name changes of streets, etc., and eventually bills passed under Trump than any president.

That's fine. I'm not against removing Confederate names, I just know it doesnt actually address the problems these people are having. It's a scapegoat and quite a stupid one at that.

Then quit being lead around by your tally whacker and tell these Prog/Dim leftists to pound sand. Colonel Allen West is against the removal of CSA memorials and renaming military bases, we need to preserve all historical remembrances....good or bad.

Senator Cornyn reverses course on base name changes

This is the one of the most misleading piles of crap I have seen. The article can be summed up as follows:

Cornyn: I don't want to change the names of bases.

News: The senate has recommended a pointless study on whether we should study the changing of names of bases.

Cornyn: Fine. If that makes you happy.

(Black dim state senator): (says things about having black skin).

Fin.

It’s a slippery slope for sure but I could see switching the Fort Hood name over to another good old boy hero from Texas — Fort Audie Murphy.

And we’d have to sneak it in but maybe we could change Fort Polk to Fort Middleton.

What if they wanted to rename it Fort Trump?

A lot people would change their mind? The Left would go crazy. Trump would be for it. Many more on the right and Trump supporters would except it as well.

I despise Cornyn—and not because of this issue.
He’s been in office long enough.
Time to exit.
