Got a job offer to move up there and I've literally never been to Nebraska.
30, single, no kids, DGAF about the yuppy nightlife bar scene. Just want somewhere quiet to get away from the office.
Any advice on areas to live? Areas to avoid? Where the best gloryholes are?

I think going forward, the best glory holes will be in New York City.

I've never lived there but I used to go there for work several weeks per year. I enjoyed Omaha and Lincoln. It gets cold af in the winter. More decent looking women than you'd think.
Outside of the Omaha and Lincoln metros the other parts of the state (that I saw) were pretty much all rural farmland.

I lived near there and have family in Omaha.
There is limited night life so you not looking for it is a good thing.
Depending on budget you can look out west or to the south. North Omaha is not a place for white folk.
I like Omaha as a midwest town goes, the winters are tuff though. Summers are very nice and if you are a boater the Missouri river can be a decent boating experience up there.

It is a very corrupt city but nebraska folks are good people.

I actually like Omaha and could live there. Seems like a nice place to live a peaceful life.

Good to know. I've heard people mention Boys Town, Askarben, and Papillion as nice places but looking at the rental homes there, the cheapest I'm seeing for anything decent is $1400/month

That's not unreasonable.
Mortgage+insurance+maintenance
In addition have to account for not being occupied all the time.
The expenses of homeownership are much more than just the mortgage. Seems to be lost on many people.

Nice place.
Most of my family is in southeast Nebraska. Mostly Lincoln and the farms, but a couple in Omaha.
It is nice, blond girls up there are pretty nice.

I was actually surprised to learn Omaha is that close to the border of Iowa. Not sure if living in Council Bluffs and commuting in is possible/worthwhile.

It's like a 5-10 minute drive from downtown without traffic. They've got casinos in CB if that's your thing.

I have. There's plenty to do in Omaha. The city is fairly segregated. South of downtown is very hispanic going down 10th or 13th street once you pass interstate I80. Lots of black folks living north of downtown, from cumming street on northward. By the airport, there is actually a portion of Iowa on the west side of the river, kind of white trashy just like most of council bluffs which is east of Omaha across the river. To the west, from say 50th to 120th is a lot of middle to upper middle class folks. Past 120th gets into mostly upper middle class on up. Bellevue, a suburb to the south is mostly middle class. There's a lot of suburbs or towns not far from Omaha that offer different sorts of lifestyles. There's a few lakes around the area too if that's your thing.

And if baseball is your thing, minor league has a AAA team in Omaha...in the suburbs I think.
