And a group of NFL players has put together a powerful 70-second video that sends a powerful message to America — and specifically to the National Football League.

“It’s been 10 days since George Floyd was brutally murdered,” Saints receiver Michael Thomas says at the outset of the video.

“How many times do we need to ask you to listen to your players?” asks Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu.

“What will it take?” says Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

“For one of us to be murdered by police brutality?” asks Browns receiver Jarvis Landry.

The NFL responds

quote:

“We, the NFL, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier ... We, the NFL, believe Black Lives Matter.”

Roger Goodell responds to the message from the players. (via @NFL)

What if it’s Brees or Matt Ryan, or another white player?

Statistically, that’s more likely. Will Jarvis care?

What do they want? Just a message? Money?

Hasn’t the NFL come out and condemned the cops already?

I’m sure I don’t understand because I’m white. So since I’m white, can someone black-splain what’s wanted?

What a shitty fricking video

So forcing the NFL to come out and state what you want them to state is what is going to solve the issue?

Everyone in that video can get fricked.

Here's what the NFL's response should be:

Hello. We pay you millions to play a game where you run and catch and throw a football.

If you don't like our league... leave.

Good luck making these salaries elsewhere. I hear the xfl is looking great these days.

Why not?

I beleive police brutality needs to stop agaisnt all races

Jarvis however, seems to only be about stopping it for one race

Sweet. So it should be easy for you to explain.

Yes. Why do you all think that black people aren't empathetic?

Actually, statistically, it’s not since the NFL is something like 70% black.

They literally said it in the video. Not my fault you didn't pay attention for the full 70 seconds

I am listening to them

And I am hearing police brutality against men of color needs to change. I’m just wondering how they feel about police brutality against men not of color. It isn’t in their message, so I don’t want to make assumptions

This is what I can't figure out. All of these police killings are criminal acts by individuals.
What is a sports organization or for that matter, any other company, supposed to do to stop crimes like this?
Talking about it won't stop anything until there is a cultural change of trust among races, etc
