Has any athlete or anyone in the sports media come to Brees' defense

Prior to his apology? I searched youtube and online and I haven't seen anyone on ESPN defend him. Drew is one of the most generous guys in sport and to see his teammates and the sports world turn on him is disgusting. I hate that he apologized because he did nothing wrong.

It looks like I've freed up an extra 3+ hours on my Sundays this fall.

The closet I can get is Joe Horn telling people he isn't racist, that's about it

I have probably watched 2 hours since the Kapernick stuff started.

I was planning to tune into some Falcons games this fall to see how Gurley was going to do. But, I might skip. The NFL is nothing but a big disappointment.

DEMARIO DAVIS did.

I can't recall his exact tweet, but he said something about this is what our nation has become, where a man can't even express his opinion.

He deserves credit.

I think the closest is Tony Dungy

"Drew Brees can't be afraid to say that and we can't be afraid to say 'Okay, I don't agree with you but let's talk about this," Dungy said. "We can't just say anytime something happens we don't agree with 'Hey I'm done with that and this person.' That doesn't make sense."

Kudos to Dungy. He's always been a high character guy.

This.

Joe Horn started out ok but then gently guided him under the bus at the end

"People should not be throwing Drew Brees under the bus, and they definitely need to pump the brakes on labeling him a racist,” Horn said. “I know Drew Brees. Drew has done a lot to help black families and the black community in New Orleans. If Drew Brees didn’t love black families and low-income families he wouldn’t have helped the way he has over the years. People that are criticizing him like LeBron James and other celebrities don’t know him. They need to check his resume. I love my race. And I love New Orleans to death. But I know Drew Brees. And Drew is a good person. And until you have walked beside him and gotten to know him, his wife and family, you definitely have to give him a pass on this one and allow Drew a chance to think about what he said and come back and make this right. And I know he will.”

Congratulations to Mike Tomlin. He is now the first black coach to win a Super Bowl. You know, he looks just like this dude Cornpop. You know the thing. Oops, gotta go sniff some hair.

You got it.
They’re after him with their favorite weapon: shame.

Biggest shock of the whole mess to me is the lack of support from:

Gayle Benson
Sean Payton
Teammates now and over the years that actually know him.

Doesn't Brees have enough goodwill in the bank to get some support without crawling.

Shameful.

Cowards. Brees had the people behind him. He chose to side with the lying media and the anti-American mob

None.

Care about black lives while we ruin white lives.

That is how you unite a people.

yeh, Joe Horn basically said I like him as a person, but he is not entitled to this opinion and I am waiting for his apology. Better than some of the other ones that threw a hissy fit, but not exactly support.

Drew Brees has probably done enough charity work and development for low income communities in the wake of Katrina and to current date than the clowns that are roasting them have done in their entire lives combined.

Michael Thomas can thank Brees for the nice car he drives and great house he probably lives in.

Very interesting to see how soft these tough athletes are when someone says something they don’t agree with. Their ‘run to social media’ tactic to shame ppl is the child equivalent of “I’m telling mommy”.

Be a man and pick up the phone and talk with Brees about it.
