Brees is a good guy who has given countless hours and countless dollars to the city of New Orleans. He’s done more for the black community than most of these people could dream about and this is how they repay him.

Brees didn’t deserve the original backlash and he still doesn’t deserve any more from people that are disappointed he apologized.
It’s all shitty.
It’s all shitty.

I would like to apologize to my friends, teammates, the City of New Orleans, the black community, NFL community and anyone I hurt with my comments yesterday. In speaking with some of you, it breaks my heart to know the pain I have caused.
In an attempt to talk about respect, unity, and solidarity centered around the American flag and the national anthem, I made comments that were insensitive and completely missed the mark on the issues we are facing right now as a country. They lacked awareness and any type of compassion or empathy. Instead, those words have become divisive and hurtful and have misled people into believing that somehow I am an enemy. This could not be further from the truth, and is not an accurate reflection of my heart or my character.
This is where I stand:
I stand with the black community in the fight against systemic racial injustice and police brutality and support the creation of real policy change that will make a difference.
I condemn the years of oppression that have taken place throughout our black communities and still exists today.
I acknowledge that we as Americans, including myself, have not done enough to fight for that equality or to truly understand the struggles and plight of the black community.
I recognize that I am part of the solution and can be a leader for the black community in this movement.
I will never know what it’s like to be a black man or raise black children in America but I will work every day to put myself in those shoes and fight for what is right.
I have ALWAYS been an ally, never an enemy.
I am sick about the way my comments were perceived yesterday, but I take full responsibility and accountability. I recognize that I should do less talking and more listening...and when the black community is talking about their pain, we all need to listen.
For that, I am very sorry and I ask your forgiveness.

Brees is such a pussy for apologizing by Esquire
I'm sure he will lose sleep at night knowing you lost respect for him.
Apparently he did lose sleep about people's opinion hence the apology.

Right, because he shouldn't want the best financial situation he could possibly provide for his family. Got it, boss.

I just wish Micheal Thomas wouldn’t have thrown him under the bus the way he did. That’s he teammate man. That’s is QB, his leader. IMO I would have rather him go to Drew privately and let him know how he felt. He and Drew could have had that conversation and maybe they both could have come out and released a statement together bringing everyone together
Instead he took to social media and killed Drew and then the mob joined in.
Mike could have handled it much better in a way that could have set a positive example
Makes me sick to see all these people attack Drew like they did.

WOW! Apologizing for respecting this country's flag. What's the over and under on the Saints this year? I'm going with the under.
I'm under also. And the kneeling by choice is what it is. Now it sounds as if every single player will be expected to kneel or they're scabs.

This.
The WOKE, politically correct, 127 gender, global warming crowd is running the world right now and, no matter what is said or how nuanced it is, anything outside of nazi lockstep virtue signaling and you will be treated worse than if you raped and killed a two year old.
We have to get past this moment and work for better. Like using a piece of steak to ward off a dumb but vicious wild animal. You then get what you need to take care of the animal. This is what Democrats who run the inner cities have done for 50 years, say what the folks want to hear and then do differently.

He will lose sleep at night knowing he didn’t stand up for his convictions. Also because he will now have to keep up the charade indefinitely and constantly ramp up the platitudes to appease his new masters. And he will likely be fretting about how the mob will treat his wife and children going forward.

Well if you actually read his apology, he didn't apologize for what he believed in. He apologized for not being able to read a room, which he damn sure cant. I cant believe he fell into that question and didn't think to give some bullshite line like 90% of the twitter blue checkmarks.

Black activism once again focuses on symbolism over substance. "Everyone needs to support kneeling if you don't want to be called a racist." Okay, I support kneeling.
How about doing away with qualified immunity for police officers who engage in unconstitutional acts? This would force better training, better officer hiring, and would decrease the tolerance of bad officers.
Nope, lets focus on kneeling.
