Brees made the right decision to apologize. When you have a family you want to avoid making the people you love targets. Besides... he has learned a valuable lesson here, you must appear as others and keep your true thoughts in your head. No point in making enemies out of friends.

quote:You make a good point. They want freedom of speech and not to be bashed for it then turn around and do the same thing when Drew voiced his opinion.
I supported Kaepernicks right to kneel during the anthem even though i didn't agree with it. The black community and his teammates should support Drews right to speak his mind and stand for the flag. Its called freedom of expression and its protected by the First Amendment. Too many damn people just want to shut others up so only their voice can be heard. Too many monologues and not enough dialougue.

He has done so much for the state and the Saints

Doesn't giving into bullying just reward that kind behavior? I know his views didn't change over night.

His apology seals his fate. He will never be forgiven by the never forgivers, so now he will lose his base. No Hall of Fame, no NBC job, no political or civic future. I'd move back to Texas and buy a ranch.

Hopefully our country is more reasonable than that. Hopefully the loudmouths on both sides are marginalized and the level headed people in the middle can say "Nope, Drew is a good person and we are going to support him".
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

You’re just as bad as the people who judged him initially.

Honestly, he should retire being that age and you know someone is going to cheap shot him. Not worth it

That's exactly what happened. That's why he apologized. Since you are slow: Brees will lose sleep at night knowing people lost respect for him. Hence, why he quickly apologized. Your sarcasm failed.

I seriously doubt any of you people would do different if it affected your family's well being or source of income.
In his case, I don't think he would need anymore income the rest of his life.

Saints fan checking in.
couldn't agree more.
Drew's grandpappy wouldn't have changed his stance on his beliefs to appease the masses. Drew's grandpappy is disappointed his in grandson.

So, does he kneel now or not?

ad truth is, if he didnt, his racist linemen wouldnt block for him, and his racist receivers wouldnt get open or try to catch the ball
its sad and pathetic but racists control sports today and none of them are white, the only racists in this country today are blacks who use criminals acting like thugs criminals as an excuse to push more racism
This is the dumbest thing I've read today. When their multimillion dollar salaries depend on it, they will catch balls and block
The only racists in this country are black? You know that's not true. You can't possibly be a rationally thinking adult and think that.

he's already kneeled, literally and figuratively.

He's trying to keep his team. One more Super Bowl Run
Posted on 6/4/20 at 10:17 am to Klark Kent
Can't he also have his own views while acknowledging the black concerns?

Oh stop it. Brees didn't change his stance on anything. He said he needed to listen more to understand other people's stances.

Of course not. He made very clear his stance. Now, will he not look down on the people kneeling? That is the question here.
