I came from an incredibly impoverished childhood, because of this, I've seen the best and the worst of society. I know the goodness that comes when you least expect it, and the pure evil that taunts you and lures you into mistakes that radically change your life.
I tried to explain this to my 22-year-old son, who is a senior at LSU. He just does not get it. He believes every single thing he sees that paints the protestors, and rioters in a positive light. I told him this the other day--
People become what they believe, and sometimes what society tells them to believe. You become your own true self when you finally decide what your "truth" is.
This lady is absolutely right.
