I can’t understand if they just don’t trust the undeniable veracity of how concrete studies on stimulants are, or maybe are fooled by the “risk of heart attack and death.” Well yeah Jackson shouldn’t have taken his 240mg of adderall today before football practice. Stimulants are one of the safest and most healthy possible majorly used medications in the world and have way less approved indications that opioids or benzos, both have their place don’t get me wrong, but the stimulants I’m talking about (Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta) act different than pure methamphetamine or cocaine. Now ADD and giving stuff to children is a whole different story, I’m just saying it’s no less safe that that Tylenol for headaches once a day.

Just want to get ahead of think of how you’re making children drug addicted monsters crowd. Well amazingly certain data, and it’s pretty new, but verifiably could be said to be reliable and worth trying says drug addiction/ADD/What the frick ever is all the same god damn thing. Patients who are on alcohol, oxy, what ever are typically always using because of depression and psyc hows shown a good percentage respond very very well to >10mg of adderall a day and stop all their destructive drug habits. Funny huh

Unecessary prescription medications for kids is insane. I also don’t see how people think marijuana doesn’t have any negative effects. It’s a depressant and is still illegal-you can get arrested etc. You can’t tell me it doesn’t cause health problems like respiratory issues, addiction, paranoia, anxiety. I don’t see harm if people use it occasionally or through medical prescriptions, but encouraging teenagers to use it seems strange. People lose their jobs for failing drug tests, and with technology it stays on people’s records for a long time. I’ve seen people lose jobs, their doctors, and fail court ordered drug tests for custody in divorce cases from marijuana. Why not teach 18 year olds healthy coping skills instead of using something that can cost them their job or create other issues in their lives?
I bet you’re fun at parties

Lisdexamphetamine is quite literally being trialed to stop everything he describes being afraid of. It seems since it’s a prodrug and useless unless taken orally with a 1.5 onset and long duration the fear mongers are starting to see what these meds could be 1st line for.

I will fight my ex 100% if she tries to put our son on that shite.

Why though? Again it is almost comical how overdone stimulant studies have been ran through for their very limited approved FDA indication. They’re one of the most effective and safest medications in the world inside indications and that’s a fact. They actively improve heath and now one is first line to stop fattys from eating thank god. My point isn’t children should take it, it’s that way more people should be considered for it through psych for a way larger number of reasons that ADD. It’s fricking ridiculous really.

I’ve been taking 30mg a day and haven’t had any health issues due to taking it.

30mg of what? And for how long? Was this the dose started on? 30mg of adderall at once is a pretty high dose usually the maximum recommendation but some require more, 30 mg of Vyvanse or Ritalin is nothing that’s for children. I find these types of things are typically rooted in emotion over omg our children and not the evidence around them. It would be stupid and illogical to suggest we don’t explore how much can be done with a medication because of how .1% chooses to use it.
Truly though it’s over for the home team. A reliable prodrug extended release formation that’s almost impossible to abuse and also has all day weight control properties? lol so horrible. Adderall IR will be gone the way of Dexedrine in 15-20 years which is good. Less abuse

Adderall. Started on 10 mg 6-7 years ago. Gradually moved up 20mg and then was put on 30mg about 2-3 years ago. I’m actually prescribed to take 30mg twice a day but I only take it once a day

Adderall 30mg BID is perfectly in acceptable dosing although some will find the side effects become worse than it helps as dosage escalates. Adderall is just a really harsh and inconsistent medication in general which relies way to much on the way you maintain your body for long term effectiveness for some things. Also it’s a great idea for people on daily stimulants to take 3 months or so off a year to lower tolerance and dosage escalation. Vyvanse has really changed the game completely though which it is why is taking in all that sweet sweet dollar.

Because he doesn't need it.

All 3 of mine are prescribed, but they don't take it. That's for me.

This used to be generally treated by, "Go outside and burn off some energy," or "Do you want me to talk to you by hand?"

No he doesn’t. He’s just 5.

And that’s perfectly fine. Stimulants show much more promise in treating legitimate adult problems like depression and addiction in particular. Not to mention with a compound like vyvanse to limit abuse potential it can be used more loosely as in keeping fat people from eating.

I got a niece and nephew that are ADD and take meds. They barely eat real food because they “aren’t hungry” but they’ll clean out cookies and sugary crap and drink soft drinks all day.
