CDC

quote:

the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is estimating that about a third of coronavirus infections are asymptomatic.

The CDC also says its "best estimate" is that 0.4% of people who show symptoms and have Covid-19 will die, and the agency estimates that 40% of coronavirus transmission is occurring before people feel sick.

quote:

For people age 65 and older, the CDC puts that number at 1.3%. For people 49 and under, the agency estimated that 0.05% of symptomatic people will die.

So if 1/3 of all cases are asymptomatic It means the CDC’s best guess is:

Infection fatality rate is 0.26% total

0.87% over 65
0.134% 50-65
0.033% under 50

This will go down as the biggest, most expensive overreaction in history.

People will use this to further whatever they already believed.

But somewhere around .3-.5% has been a pretty common range discussed on this board and elsewhere since the early weeks of this.

shite. The numbers are simply too high. Better shut down businesses for another 3 months, just to be sure. Worldwide recession, market collapse, foreclosures, unemployment, and more is but a small price to pay for something with only a 99.6% chance to live through.

Does this include the people who died from shite like car wrecks, but were tested after there were dead and if they tested positive for COVID19, they counted it as a "coronavirs death"?

This event created so many libertarians. We got front row seats into what government incompetence and overreach really looks like.

Ridiculous.

Our economy is tanked and American psyche is damaged. The political divide has grown wider and there’s no telling how nasty things will get going into the election.

Don’t think you can just add those numbers up to get 0.23%. It would be an average of those three numbers, depending on the number of people in each age group.

Then when we start weeding out people with pre-existing conditions etc, blah blah. Meaning, for people like me, 40ish healthy with no pre-existing problems, the chance of death is even lower.
