About 15 million credit-card accounts and 3 million auto loans didn’t get paid in April

Lenders saw a surge of borrowers skipping credit card or car loan payments in April, raising concerns that the coronavirus crisis could soon result in a wave of defaults.
Nearly 15 million credit cards were in 'financial hardship' programs in April, such as deferral programs that let borrowers temporarily stop making payments, according to TransUnion data reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Another three million auto loans were in hardship programs, or about 3.5 percent of car loans being tracked.
The dramatic rise is skipped payments comes as coronavirus lockdowns have put more than 35 million Americans out of work in the space of six weeks, with households across the nation struggling to pay their bills.

Shocker, America is highly leveraged and Donnie’s stimulus only buys so many dildos and $27 lunch deliveries.

Not only have I kept my cards clean, I paid off a vehicle just two weeks ago. Haven't worked a day since March 14 and haven't gotten unemployment or that alleged check from FedGov. Closing on a new house tomorrow.
The catch is the MIL is moving in with us to the new house.

Doesn't matter which of our religions are in power, regular people in this country have been getting poorer and poorer for a long long time.
That so many people have not only run out of money but have had to live on credit that they can't pay after only a month and a half of no work should be a wake-up call for this country but I won't hold my breath.

I’m really not suprised at how many people are terrible with managing money.
Close family member and spouse make excellent money and live paycheck to paycheck

It’s always interesting to see who has it together and who points fingers in these scenarios.
bitching at businesses (specifically airlines) that need a bail out because they’re essentially living paycheck to paycheck by a populace that probably 70% of lives paycheck to paycheck is laughable.
A business with 1000s of employees staying afloat and keeping people from unemployment is a better bet that’s playing up to 55k a year to millions of people that stay unemployed.
Now there are a-hole businesses that will find a way to make sure that money ends up in some C level position’s pocket as opposed to keeping people employed but there’s a lot more that are going to abuse unemployment.
I say all this and I’m not radically opposed to welfare and unemployment benefits.

It's all in the banks/housing. Its wild that we have so many vacant houses (over 1.5 million) but the banks earn more by just sitting on them to keep the market high.
