Reading about Breonna Taylor and Kenneth Walker. . .is it time to end "no knock" warrants?

-They kick in the wrong door, unannounced.
-Walker thinks it is a home invasion and fires in self defense.
-Cops fire back, hitting Ms Taylor 8 times, killing her.
-Walker charged with attempted murder
-It was the wrong house.
-Police try to say it was the right house with some revisionist press leaks.
-Postmaster comes out and says they are full of shite.
I don't know what can be done, but this needs to change.

I think warrants allowing the invasion of a home for pure arrest should be rethought in general.

No knock warrants should never have been legal in the first place.

It's been way past time. Unless you hate freedom.

How often are police just lying on warrants?

No knock warrants never should have been a thing

Unfortunately, Ben Crump's name being attached to this gives it an unfortunate stank.

Benjamin Crump is making a killing (no pun intended) on these cases.

It does. You would think that the existence of people like Ben Crump would make SWAT crews more risk adverse to a no knock raid based on a lie that didn’t seem all that worthy of a no-knock raid even if true.

No opinion on whether no knocks should be there or not. But, anytime an attorney authors a press release and refers to himself as "nationally renowned" ...

To execute a "no knock" there should be evidence presented to a judge and a stakeout for at least 24hrs to ID correctly those living there and coming and going.
As it stands now I would say no if I lived in Kentucky. You can't make these mistakes. Ever.

On a no Knock warrant. There must be a Captain and FBI Agent or higher on site. If there is a shooting incident ....all police weapons and any other weapons should be confiscated on site. Any brass on the ground collected and matched with the firing pin and officer ID of the weapon.
If they screw up and go to the wrong house .... Captain on down has their careers ruined.

I think they should absolutely be banned. The element of surprise will be lost, but you really are putting law-abiding citizens in an impossible situation.
You’re sleeping peacefully in your home with your family when all of a sudden, without warning, a bunch of plainclothes police burst through your door in the middle of the night with no warning, and even if they do yell “police” and you’re able to register it immediately after being startled awake with adrenaline pumping, how do you know that for certain that they actually are police?
You can’t fault a home owner for defending himself. I mean, if you were to read about this sort of thing happening in a Communist police state you would say “Thank god I live in a free country and we don’t have the KGB”, but it’s actually happening here.

If I am on any jury involving no knock invasion I will never side with the unconstitutional law allowing no knock invasions. This same thing happened a few years ago in Killeen texas and unfortunately I was not called up for jury duty.

It's pretty obvious that most folks on this board have never been in law enforcement, nor would be willing to.
Folks need to think about standing on the outside of a door and having to announce their presence to a murder suspect, and then having to go through that door....shite gets real quick!

Can I use that same justification for those of you who've never served in the military when I disagree with something you've posted?

"Having" to go through that door?

Innocent folks in "wrong house" scenarios are not afforded the choice.
If cops get killed by an innocent man shooting in self defense, then every link in the chain that obtained the warrant should be jailed.
If an innocent is killed due to "wrong house" situations, every link in the chain should be charged with murder.
Then shite would get real quick
