LSU commit Dakota Mitchel has shut his recruitment down

Seems like he is actively recruiting for LSU too, that's coast to coast with him and Raesjon Davis

What's really the point in southern miss extending an offer to a guy with that offer list?
I mean has a school like that ever pulled a player over the teams on that list.

Shooters shoot. I agree it’s a long shot but I guess they have to at least try. Oliver is a good example.
I’ve always wondered why more highly rated players don’t just go to a smaller school, start right away and dominate for 3 years, and then go the the league. If you’re good, the NFL will find you.

..and with his recruitment shutdown, they have no incentive to move him up because that doesn't sell subscriptions.

I mean, he does basically look like a 5 star player. He hits hard as hell, looks like a sure tackler, and was pretty darn fast. He looked like a hell of a running back, receiver, safety, or corner, he was all over the field and was basically the best player on the field no matter where he was lined up lol.

They (small schools) usually offer earlier in the process. So the prospect hasn't blown up with P5 offers yet.

Didn't have great testing numbers during last year's camp circuit. The services rely heavily on that as most of their evaluators are way out of their depth reviewing game film. I saw one mention he's a little raw as a DB. What HS junior isn't? Especially a kid that has been playing both ways.
Look at not only the offer list but the schools who were really after him. LSU, UGA, and Florida were all pressing for a commitment when he shut things down.

Good god, how long until this kid gets his 4th star?
I'm a big fan of kids Lsu recruits to play defense that also played offense in HS. He can read an offense and potentially make plays based off familiarity because he's played rb/wr, not just watched the film.
He also doesn't appear to mind lining up close to the line and making contact, similar to say Delphit and Adams. Looks like we got a good one.

Idfk!!!! A safety with great speed,good hands and tackles well in open space and at the line of scrimmage...I seriously doubt there are 22 better safeties in the country seriously doubt
