Jordan's dad was killed by a Lumbee Indian and a black guy from rural North Carolina. They both went to prison for life and they're both still alive. If this was a mob hit, the two guys who killed MJ's dad would've also been killed.

He was gambling not necessarily on games but remember this was at the same time rose was being banned for life
NBA was definitely concerned with the image and look

There's a good podcast called What Really Happened. They look into all kinds of events and present a conclusion. They made a compelling argument that he was sick of the media circus.

He didn't pay off his gambling debt and that person who didn't get his money murdered his dad. It became such a traumatic experience he retired.
