There's an analysis on reddit about this:
If you look closely the monkey is attached to a rope that is being pulled back to the owner. Monkey doesn't want to go back so it grabs on to the closest thing it can.
They train the monkey's to ride on the bike til the end of the rope and then pull them back to do it again.
