Just remember, it's going to take more than a year to fix Jameis.

Link for those who don't recall just how atrocious his decision making was last year.
Aside from that, a lot of these picks were just straight up inaccurate passes. I hope that he is able to turn things around, but lets maybe pump the breaks on this heir-apparent tag a lot of this board is showering him with.

I am not going to remember this.
It's speculation on your part.
I'm sure your really good at working with QB's with all your football experience but I will just sit back, watch and enjoy the ride.

So the last five years proves that it will take at least 12 months to fix his issues?

Damn, better luck next time for you.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "fix".
Will he become Drew Brees because he's here for a year? No. But if that's the standard that no one is ever going to get fixed.
But he can definitely improve in a year. The good is really good and the bad is pretty damn bad. Can he show the good more consistently and cut down the bad? I don't see why not. He's not dumb, it's going to be up to how much he wants it.

I see some really bad throws on that video, but I also see tipped balls, WR's running the wrong routes, WR's giving up on jump balls, and a team that was playing behind a lot. Shitty teams often have all of these issues. I am not saying Jameis is going to turn into Brees from spending time here, but if you put a good line around him with a good coaching staff around him, he is probably closer to a 12-15 INT guy a year. Not great but not terrible.

Yeah, Jameis isn't probably ever going to be as efficient as Brees, but nobody will. If he improves his decision-making some, you could be looking at a guy who throws 5,000 yards, 40+ TD - 16 INT, 67% completion percentage. You'd also have more big play/over the top potential with him over the death by a thousand cuts.

i imagine with our philosophical shift it will be more like 4000, 30/10 in a good year
we're a running/defense team after Brees retires
if Hill is our QB, we can look for 2500 20/12 as a great year

If he ever plays in a regular season game, this board will be hilarious. The guy could throw for 30 TDs and 5 INTs and the reaction to those INTs on this board would be fantastic.

Ummm... He had a bad year, but his previous 4 were nothing like last year. It's not like he has a history of being such an extremely bad decision maker.
Second, Arians has a notorious history of QBs throwing tons of INTs (see Manning, Couch, Luck) first years.
In the end, he will be surrounded by much better overall talent in NOLA after next season likely than he ever has been in Tampa.

This is just not true. The Bucs were well within reach of winning games in most all cases where these interceptions were thrown.
In fact,in almost EVERY CASE it was his interception(s) that was the nail in the coffin. That's an enormous red flag imo

Totally. Every Saints fan should hope that you're right. However, 30 interceptions in a season comes with (Very rightfully so) and enormous amount of skepticism.

Just FYI, Drew Brees joined the Saints at age 27. His last year with San Diego, he threw for 24 TDs and 15 Ints. His first year with the Saints he threw 26 TDs and 11 Ints and the year after he threw for 28 TDs and 18 Ints. After that he started throwing for 30+ TDs with Ints in the teens and twenties until 2017 when he cut down to single digit Ints.

His biggest flaws are his immaturity and not being smart with the football. I think maturity can take a huge step forward in 1 year, especially in this locker room. Decision making could also take huge strides under one of the NFL’s most efficient passers of all time.
Let’s also not forget that his arm talent is toward the top of the league. This is a steal for the Saints anyway you frame it and it’s very fair for people to be optimistic about what could be. Only time will tell...

Better than an unfixable 31yr old that has never been a good passer
