The parents in “The Parent Trap” are some of the worst parents ever

I have to say thinking it through, the parents from The Parent Trap are some of the worst parents in film history. Sure they each coddle the twin they currently have, but the twins are far more cool with the situation than they should have been.
These mutually monstrous parents not only decided to lie to these girls that one of their parents were dead, but also don't tell them that they have a twin sister. It's a plot straight out of a Stanley Kubrick film when you think about it.
On top of that, it seems that both of them are entirely comfortable with never seeing one of their children again and abusing the other by saying one of their parents is dead. I have come to the conclusion that these two people were actually a bunch of psychopaths who deliberately separated because they had twins, and then when 10 years passed, they'd perform the psychological experiment from hell and send these girls to the same camp just to see what would happen. It's really as if Josef Mengle had twins and decided to frick with them.
This movie is presented quirky as shite when it is truly horrifying when you sit down and think about it for a moment. Seriously look at this scene. In that scene Hallie should have slapped the shite out of her mother repeatedly instead of saying "This arrangement sucks", and then the mother says "I agree it totally sucks" with a wink to the camera. It's not as if she and her daughter lived in a North Korean prison camp. She was rich as frick and her ex-husband was rich as frick. Their parents are monsters and I guess this makes sense of how Lindsay Lohan turned out. Wonder where her twin is these days.

The arrangement never made much sense, but Lindsay Lohan was relatively sane in those days so we looked past it.

Why does everybody always refer to the Lindsey Lohan version of The Parent Trap? It's also the only one they show on TV. The original with Haley Mills was so much better and Maureen O'Hara was hot as shite

Because it’s the version I grew up with and I frequently jerked off to the thought of Lindsay Lohan growing up.
EDIT: And yes this is a Crackpot thread.

I would think that parents who murdered their kids in moves would be worse but I don't know why it matters since we're talking about fiction.

Well yeah, but they’re painted appropriately. I try to shed a light on parents painted as good or sympathetic by the filmmakers, like the McAllisters. These parents are evil child abusers as well even if they aren’t open about it or don’t believe themselves to be such.

I'm actually revamping a thread I did like 5 years ago. Almost entirely copy and paste. Just wanted to start it up again, so maybe Reddit ripped it off from me. I love the daily poster that says "Reddit did it! Reddit did it!!"

Gotcha. So in other words, you didn’t want to present a new original idea, you just wanted attention?

You haven't brought up something you've talked about before to a new or also the same audience over years? 5 years is a lot of new posters, and old posters could have a new perspective on an issue. So no, it's not attention whoring. It's bringing a new crackpot thread. shite, we bump Home Alone every fricking year and come up with something new. I think we can do the same with the Parent Trap.

Anyone thought Lindsay Lohan had an actual twin like I did?

Haley Mills version better.

Did they actually do this? I thought they were just kind of silent about the other parent.

I'm sure it was things like "She's not with us anymore" "He's gone" and the kid eventually figures the parent is dead and stops asking.

Don't forget Bobby Boucher's mama told him that his daddy had died rather than admit he had changed his name to Roberto and moved in with a voodoo woman named Phyliss!
