Debate: Are unions what caused the United States to lose so many manufacturing jobs?

Obviously unions were needed to fight for the average work in the early 1900's but did they outlast their initial purpose and cause jobs to leave the US?

A cog in the wheel. I don't think you can discount how cheap labor is in other countries, letting them work in conditions we likely wouldn't accept even without unions. Or the almost complete lack of regulations in some of those countries.

In short, yes. It’s a sad, but true, reality. Pro union folks will argue this, but economically, in a capitalist society, there’s really no way to dispute this fact if you’re being intellectually honest.

YES!!!! Why pay someone $200 an hour plus benefits plus WEEKS paid vacation when you can pay someone $10 a hour and get the same quality of work.

We are fine moving cheap labor and pollution to other countries. That is the answer. It is so unthinkable here. But, fine if we buy our products from other countries who do it while we lose jobs here.

Yep the day that unions went pay for play if the day they should have been kicked out of the country.

Dirt cheap and plentiful labor in china and other countries is what caused the loss in US manufacturing. Otherwise, why didn't the majority of US manufacturing move to the southern US where there are Right to Work laws?

Unions were crucial to the development of the working class in the early 1900's but they are destroying the country today. There isn't a need for a union, in the traditional sense, anymore. There are laws in place today that address most of the union concerns in this country and they only exists today for political reasons.
