Bank Stocks

Trying to even out my personal portfolio and realizing I have little exposure to banks. Most are trading near 52 week lows, and I understand the reasons. Is there a preferred bank stock the MT gurus gravitate to? Any that you are bullish on long term?
I've been watching WFC and BAC closely, but realize there could be others I haven't started following. Is there a core group of banks I could analyze and decide on (ex. C, JPM, USB came up when I was doing peer comparisons for WFC and BAC).
This will be a long buy. Not looking to flip / trade them.

GS seems to be seen as the safest investment for the current downturn due to their reliance on trading and lack of exposure to mortgages and consumer credit.

Wells Fargo is Buffett’s bank. If he owns it, it’s going to be a solid investment. I think Berkshire actually has more BAC than Wells now, though. Goldman is the gold standard. Any of those three are solid bank plays.

Solid research. Want to know how I know you have zero idea what you're talking about?

Jamie Dimon is probably the only current leader I would put my money on.

What is wrong about Wells Fargo being Buffett’s bank or him making solid investments? Yes, I do want to know.

That Buffett picked the worse performing big bank and has done absolutely horrible with Wells Fargo

He’s at about $10.8 billion on gains with Wells Fargo, not to mention the usual dividend. That’s horrible? What’s your long term bank investment for the OP? We’ll see if it beats Wells in the next 12 months.

Saying this:

This is quite a dumb statement. There are quite a few examples of him making poor investments, although his overall portfolio tends to outperform.

So the saying the best long term investor in the history of investing makes solid investments means I don’t know what I am talking about and is a dumb statement. Nothing about Wells or it being Buffett’s bank either. Got it. Thanks for clarifying.

Of the big banks, I own JPM and MS. Jamie Dimon is the man and I’m betting on the Etrade acquisition with MS. Also own TD.
There are a ton of regional banks with good track records of paying consistent and growing dividends - even through the financial crisis. It looks like the COVID environment will test them significantly again. Several with 20+ year track records of growing dividends and modest payout ratios:
OZK
RBCAA
SRCE
BANF
ETA: can’t forget the hometown team: CBSH. Not sexy but it’s a dividend king.

I mean, Buffett really killed it on OXY too, right?

His overall portfolio outperforming over the long term does not equal:

He has made bad investments. So if your decision to buy WFC stock is because Mr. Buffett owns shares then yes.. you have no clue what you're talking about and you probably shouldn't be giving advice on stock picking.

What bank trading desks took the other side of oil futures?
I’d read the COT for the last several years before I made a decision.

Those are the 2 bank stocks I trade in. I also like JPM. If I had 100k, I could see buying long term in any of the 3.
