Pistol easy. Research was done on Pete's footage and it was determined that he would have averaged 7.8 3,s per game. That would have put him at 52 ppg. He came into the NBA on a bad team and with a contract that created problems in the locker room. Petit and Shaq were great players for physical reasons but Pete was the best basketball player.

Agreed

I always thought it would be a fun exercise to assemble an all time LSU basketball team though

You could destroy anyone. Imagine Pistol, Chris Jackson, Shaq, Petit on the same team

Then just pick another rim defender like Thomas

Team would probably murder anyone else's NCAA team including NC, Duke, Kentucky

I hate it when guards are compared to centers.

It’s almost like they are playing two different sports.

LSU Basketball is Pistol.

But if you were to ask me to pick 1 LSU person to represent us if aliens were to come to Earth, I'd pick Shaq

Pistol Pete

But I feel like with the new era you've got to go with Shaq

Both represented LSU to the highest regard

I don't think Petit gets enough credit for how great he was because most of us did not see him play. Look at comments from Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain about him and you will see how respected of a player he was. Hell he led his St. Louis Club to a title over the Celtics I believe one of two during the Celtics run of dominance with Russell.

I watched Pete drop 69 vs the Knicks in the Dome once. No 3 point line. He’d have hit 75-80 points easily with one. He was totally magical.

My Cat Maniac friend from UK says that Pete - with his floppy socks - was the greatest he ever saw in college.

I love me some Shaq, but I’ll take the guy the arena is named after, thanks.

This made me realize... it’s past time Shaq gets some sort of similar honor on LSU’s campus. He’s one of the most legendary basketball players of all time and he’s one of own.

I've repeatedly posted on this board over the years that only UNC & UCLA would have a prayer of beating LSU in an all-time team game. We are also top 10 all-time in signing McDonalds aa's. Getting great players has never been a problem for LSU basketball.
