Why would anyone release prisoners, who have been sitting in jail and have likely been exposed to Covid, have no jobs to report to, and likely aren’t going to follow social distancing or laws, into society 6 months early? What is the point of this? LINK

Are they non-violent? Half of those motherfrickers probably shouldnt even be in there.

If they are non-violent and in there for some bullshite drug charge, I don't see an issue. But gang members/leaders, violent offenders or repeat offenders don't need to be released.

ETA - haven't there already been at least 2 dudes who were released and killed someone not long after their release? One being in New Orleans, IIRC.

Literally the first paragraph.

quote:

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced a plan today that will grant early release to state prisoners who are serving sentences for non-violent, non-sex crimes and have less than six months to go on their sentence.

I see nothing wrong with it.

Well, a judge just released an upstanding young man in NOLA who allegedly was the leader a of a heroin drug gang called D block. Within two days he was gunned down in a drive by in broad daylight.

Soooo, if this kind of thing is going to happen on a regular basis with the young men when they're released........

meh, let em all go and see what happens

Even if they're non-violent, what is the benefit to randomly releasing prisoners?

Never let a crisis go to waste.

JBE is an ideologue with an agenda, in spite of his attempts to claim he’s a ‘moderate’ .

LA has a high incarceration rate. SJW’s and race baiters constantly bash our state for that. Here’s an easy way to cut that number, for to a ‘crisis’.

Why not just legalize marijuana & let those out with non-violent marijuana convictions.

Louisiana has been releasing prisoners early under “earned compliance credits” for a while. Problem is, it’s not earned at all. They’ve been giving prisoners “earned compliance” on the front end and it cuts their sentence in half. Google it.

Because you can count on people that have been locked up for a while to strictly adhere to stay at home and social distancing upon early release.

That's why you always see school age children trying to get back into their classes the week after school lets out for the summer.

I have a buddy works in Prison system he said They way still transporting them around everyday.

Think about that... they are under quarantine and yet bc of money they feel it’s a good idea to play monopoly with prisoners.

Not real smart.

Very easy point if you think about what this allows them to do... More crime bigger police state.

JBE is a liberal idiot. If they are in jail and caught Covid-19, then so be it. Next time they should try not being criminals, having a job and being productive members of the communities.
